who gets the commission?

So I'm very new to this whole IM thing...

I stumbled upon the world of free website templates 3 weeks ago and decided to create a website and I published it yesterday and signed up for a few affiliate networks.

My question is this:

company xyz offers to pay 10% commission on affiliate referral sales.

Suppose a user comes to my website (website A), clicks on an affiliate link that brings the user to company xyz, but the user did not buy a product right away. A couple days later..the user goes to another website (website B), and clicks on an affiliate link that brings him to the same company xyz, and again he does not buy anything.

A couple days later, the user goes to company xyz directly and bought an item.

Who gets the commission?

I'm a newbie to this whole thing....it's been fun creating the website..and i don't know why I didn't do this sooner.

    Usually website B, as their cookie would have overwritten the cookie from website A.

    Some websites and membership scripts allow you to make the first website get the sell instead, it depends on the site.

    Normally though, the last site would get the commission.
