Help with book packaging and promotion?

I just finished writing a book and was wondering if there are any specialists you can suggest for help in prepping a book for print (cover, final edit, etc) and helping with marketing/promo in Amazon, etc?

Congrats on getting your book finished!

You can check out the print on demand services available at BookSurge, Lulu, and Lightning Source. That will help you understand what is required to get the book in print and about how much it will cost if you outsource the work.

With BookSurge they are the publisher and they pay you a 35% royalty based on the list price.

With Lightning Source you are the publisher and you can make about 50% of the list price with them. If you need ISBNs it is much less expensive, per number, to purchase 10 rather than 1 (isbn.org).

There are plenty of other things though, like creating a title for the book cover and more importantly a very long sub title optimized with your keywords/phrases for landing high on Amazon search results.

You can do your own formatting in Word and convert to PDF, which can be a bit tricky but it saves a ton of money compared to professional services.

    I hope this helps

I have not decided how I was going to publish.

I was hoping to find someone "experienced" in this area that I could hire (or partner with) to package it up and sort out the details for me (or with me)

Check out Dan Poynter's Self-Publishing Manual, 16th Edition: How to Write, Print and Sell Your Own Book (Self Publishing Manual) (Paperback).

Any large bookseller should have it, as does Amazon etc. Your local library may have it, but it'll either be an older edition or stolen.

    Good luck,

    Thanks for the tip Jack

I have more money than time at the moment, so I am still hoping to outsource or partner with an expert

I do layout and design for print books and would be glad to talk to you about the exact steps to get a print book on Amazon. I currently have 4 books there that I've done for others. Please send me a PM if you're interested.

The Well-Fed Self-Publisher by Peter Bowerman.

Read the reviews by customers on Amazon.

    The book covers design; what services to use and where to find them;
time-lines; case studies; and lots more.

I like the book because it goes in depth on how to market your book and
the many backends that you can create.

When I am ready financially; I will definitely combine techniques from this
forum, the aforementioned book, and create some public domain products.

Received your PM, BizBooks, but apparently I am unable to send a PM until I have made 15 posts. So I guess that means I have 13 to go after this one. LOL

I've written an ebook that explains the process. I'll send you a link to download it if you'll PM me your email address. Sorry about that.

      Thanks!
