A question about your Ezine article 'resource box link' - concerning click-thru rates for a Long url link, VS a short url link
Does it matter much if in your resource box the url link is somthing long- eg www .yoursite.com/SecretTipsReadyNow compared to a short url in your resource box eg www .yoursite.com Have you tested ^^ and seen a difference in click-thru rates? For those of you who have used article directories marketing for a while, have you found it makes a difference to your click-thru rates if you use a long url compared to a short one? (the clickthru rate of the link in your resource box that is) |

Well I never use a raw URL anyway. I always use the keyword phrase that I want to rank for as the anchor text in the resource box and EZA limits the length/amount of words you can use in your anchor text anyway.
Not sure how much testing you can do within that? |

Long URL works as long as it shows the benefits of clicking on it.
For example, if you offer someone a free report on article marketing strategies, you can name your URL: www. xxx .com /articlemarketingreport.html The click through rate for this should be better than short URLs. |

Using a raw URL instead of anchor text in links is one of the biggest mistakes marketers, even experienced marketers who should know better, make. I'm amazed how many resource boxes I see that use a raw link and not proper anchor text. Take a look the next time you're on EZE, GoArticles, Article dashboard, etc. You'll be shocked.

Since EZA only allow three(?) words as anchor text, wouldn't it be better to use a URL if you wanted to rank for a long tail keyword?

Use both. I think Allen Graves even posted about this today. Anchor text AND a raw URL. The text is good for seo, and I think Allen tested and the ctr was better with the raw link.

Plus when people take your articles and strip your links out (which is bound to happen), there is at least a way of someone coming to your site via the url in the resource box.

That's right.
It seems that a lot of people ignore the text links and click on the URL link instead. However, it is important to use both. Quick Little Article Marketing Resource Box Tiplet Allen |
