My 1st Amazon site is up: what next?

I recently finished the Amazon Coaching course and I finished setting up my first amazon site as a result of that course.

My site is now indexed and I recently started promoting it. I tried building backlinks manually... I suck at it and it takes a lot of time. I decided to buy profile links and blog comments WSO's.

I intend to write 2 informational articles related to my product on the review site and also submit it to artcile directories for additional links.
I believe these links will be found over time as I am not pinging them.

What should be my next step? Should I keep building backlinks to this one site or should I start my next amazon site?
I don't have any traffic yet. Will what I'm doing eventually bring traffic to my site.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

    I would wait until you start seeing some results. You need some traffic coming in and some people buying things.

    Keep backlinking and get your site ranked high in Google. After that, you can start working on the next one(s)

    Yeah you definitely need to keep working on the first site until it's making money and getting traffic. 10 sites would be worthless if none of them were getting traffic and conversions.

      You need to be sure you site is gonna convert when it gets visitors so I'd totally focus on this one site for now until you have some data to go off and then go into more when your first site is performing. Keep backlinking to high pr sites and do some video submissions for it.

      Of course not!. Keep adding new content to your site, comment on forums, blogs, questions and answers sites... you might get some direct traffic from them.

      And why not? Start building your next site. The site you have now will need some work (part of which you have outsourced) and time to rank well, but it DOES NOT need a 100% of your time. Ranking well on Google, besides works, NEEDS TIME. So, my suggestion: keep working on your site and start building the new one. Otherwise, starting to make a decent amount of money will take you forever.

    Yes, so many people will tell you just to keep cranking out sites, but for what. You've got a site, make it pay off. Do everything you can to get it ranking in the top 10 for your main keyword and some secondary keywords. Hopefully you picked a keyword that gets a lot of searches.

    Building backlinks is a major pain, but it's what you have to do. My belief is you spent 10 minutes creating content and 10 hours backlinking it. Maybe not that much, but you get the point. The more entry points into your site the better.

    Focusing on your current site to make it profitable is a sound strategy. However, waiting to get indexed may not be a good strategy if you can afford some paid advertising.

    The key is to find out as quickly as you can whether the site you built and the reviews you wrote and the images you chose will convert visitors into buyers.

    In order to find out quickly, you need to get real traffic to that page via paid advertising.

    Once you find out what works, then invest in doing SEO. Keep in mind that SEO is an investment. You don't want to make an investment without a realistic expectation of a return.

    You can get paid traffic fairly inexpensively by targeting long-tail keywords. Try Bing and 7Search for PPC. Try Adbrite for banners. Try AdOnNetworks for CPV. You can also try Google Adsense if you have an idea on where to place your ads.

      I agree you should go on building backlinks to your site. I think the worst thing you could do right now would be to start building another site.

      And remember: it will take time before you make your first sales.

      Have you optimized your site for keywords? You should also follow your stats to find out what keywords people use when they enter your site (using Awstats or Google Analytics) and use that information to further optimize your pages/posts.

    Also create an RSS feed for your site then submit it to RSS directories. Write a press release or outsource it.

      You will need to treat it like any other website that you own.

      You need to build backlinks to it to make it viable. By building backlinks you can not only drive traffic but get the site to move up in the serps.

      You should also consider some residual income as well.

      Amazon does not pay that much commission, it's the fact that cookies remain there for quite some time and people are very loyal to buying stuff on Amazon.Com

    I agree with the other posters, focus on this site first and work on getting traffic. I have an Amazon astore on my site and I wasn't sure if I was getting much traffic. I added a counter a couple of weeks ago and am now over 5k. But still no sales yet. I do as much seo as I can think of almost everyday for that one site to get traffic. Seems to be working pretty well, just need to work on getting sales.

    Leave comment's on blogs and forums in your niche area. Submit to directories, write and submit articles. Submit your feed. These are some of the ways to start getting some traffic to your site. Good luck

    I agree that it's a good idea to focus in on one site until it's getting some traffic, but not necessarily until it's making money. If you're getting 50-100 uniques per day and a bunch of amazon.com clicks but it's not converting then you might want to move on to another niche.

    The strategy of putting up 5-10 sites when you first start out is based on the fact that some sites will convert while others won't. This way you can start to focus on the winners.

    If you've got even a small amount of money to spend it's not really much harder to backlink for 5 sites than it is for one.

      Backlinks are great. Do more article marketing, traffic exchanges, social bookmarking, there's a host of free techniques available to drive traffic.

    while you are waiting, do some keyword research and look for related keywords you can target to dominate your niche and add these into your backlinking/article marketing campaigns.

      I agree with this poster. When starting a new site/blog, obviously most of my time is allocated to getting it up and running, building backlinks, building traffic, etc. But once the biggest part of the work is done, I start spending less time on it and more time on my next project. No sense sitting around twiddling your thumbs just waiting on all your hard work to pay off. Some things take time, regardless of what you have already done.

    Where has your site been ranking lately?

    Google's recent changes required a slight change in the approach as static sites aren't getting the love like they used to! No big deal, as it just takes a slight tweak to your content setup. In any event, be sure to update your content periodically....Better yet, I sent you an email to sign up for follow up info that talks about this more in detail as well as some other important tips.

    It might take some time before you start making money with your site, but concentrate on building more back links to your site until you start making money then you can build another.
