Using press releases for traffic and conversion?

My question concerns the use of free press releases. The press release is pretty much a tried and true method for site promotion, but I've found that even though there appear to be many sites offering free press releases, the actual number of reliable free press release sites is relatively small. At least, that's my experience to date.

I culled a list of sites I've found to work reliably for free press release submission from a list of 50 I found on Google. The sites I've recently tested and found to be somewhat reliable are as follows:
  • Prlog.org
  • pressmethod.com
  • Prurgent.com
  • I-Newswire.com
  • Free-Press-Release.com
  • Express-Press-Release.com
  • downloadjunction.com
  • directionsmag.com
  • onlineprnews.com
  • clickpress.com
  • openpr.com
  • sbwire.com

Submission of unique press releases to these sites can help to boost traffic and exposure. I'm wondering whether or not we could develop the list of current, free press release sites . . . . Anyone have any contributions to add?

    I have a couple of services to contribute.

    freepressindex.com and pr-inside.com work good for me

    I didn't have much luck with prurgent.com - the decline rate is rather high.

    PS: PRlog - is the best, if your press release is accepted, 99% that your listing will appear Google news results
