I Don't Want You To Re-tweet My Blog Posts...

5 replies
Hey I was wondering if anybody knew if there was a Wordpress plug-in that puts a retweet and a facebook like button on my posts.

BUT

Here is the thing, I know that there are plenty of plug-ins that can do this, I am looking for a plug-in that will do that, but for only ONE category, or for categorizes that I choose it to be on.

The reason why I need it to ONLY be for categorizes that I choose, is becuase I have some aspects of my blog that I don't tweeted about and liked by the masses.

So does anybody know of a re-tweet, like plug-in that will allow me to have the buttons on certain categorizes?

      You can get the code from addthis.com and place the code only in the posts that you want to be shared.

    I'm pretty sure you can make your own code and just put it on the posts you want to be tweeted.

    Not specifically, but I think I may have a solution for you combining two plugins.

    There is a plugin I use to serve ads on specific categories. It's called widget logic. You do need to enter the category in PHP format, but it's not really programming like you may think. It's just one line. For example, on my personal finance blog, I simply add this line to have an ad appear only in the insurance category:

    is_category ('insurance') || in_category ('insurance')

    This tells Widget Logic to show the ad only when they visit the insurance category or when a post is tagged as being in the insurance category. Not exactly rocket science to set up.

    Here's the link: WordPress › Widget Logic « WordPress Plugins

    Then, you need a social sharing plugin which works in widget format instead of adding to the bottom or top of the post. Here's one I found through Google: Social Widget Plugin for WordPress [Twitter, Facebook, RSS] | TentBlogger. I'm sure there are others as well.

    Best of luck,

    Eric
