HELP?! How To Promote New Website???

I'm very close to launching a brand new website in the Media Industry.

It is not a site that is easily promotable with SEO.

I cannot go into detail regarding the website BUT it basically offers a service to people in the Media Industry.

I will be charging £10.00 per year.

I just wandered what you would recommend for CHEAP/FREE promotion for this sort of site.

Thank in advance for any sort of help!

Sounds like you're in a very competitive market. All of my sites are also in hotly competitve markets where SEO is useless for getting any of them to rank higher than 10,000 from the top.

What I do is write articles for publishing to high authority outlets such as ezines, blogs, websites, and even offline outlets such as newspapers, trade journals, magazines, etc.

What this does is get highly targeted readers in front of my articles which generates traffic to my call to action sales pages on my websites. This works completely independent of SEO, and IMO is most effective for generating laser-targeted traffic.

I think the best method for your type of site would be social media marketing. Its cheap and free.

    Forum contribution
    Network with people in Twitter
Facebook: Create a profile and fanpage
    Linkedin

Like you said some unique websites can be harder to do through SEO since no one is actually searching for it. So I would combine the use of the above social networks stated.

The best way to get it going is to become active in your niche. Visiting relevant forums and establishing yourself as an expert in the area.

Make some quality press releases and try making relationships with all types of journalists on twitter/linkedin and without being too pushy. You'd be surprised how interested a lot of these journalists are with tech related services. They figure if it's impressive to them, it will be impressive to their readers.
