Niche ideas galore. . . .?

Hey Gang,
I'm finding that there's so much out there on doing Keyword research but really nothing on getting ideas for niches. You get the be "creative, look on Ebay and Amazon" slant. There's a lot of generallities about the subject. Most courses jump to the keyword research where you check searches using google's keyword tool, or MS and check competition. But I have yet to come across any in depth training as to finding niches, particular small untapped niches. Does anything like this exist? I'm guessing if not, someone could run with this and start a WSO.

Any comments or suggestions Warriors?

Niche identification has a lot of art, the technical side is general and can be sold in mass - even the tricks - but the niches get crowded fast, and subniches faster.

there was a product some time ago that picked up trends for physical products, but that is about it.

    HI Joe,

i do a lot of training on this sort of thing mostly via webinars.

my whole line of thinking is that you can profit with any keyword / niche if you can be creative enough to find out what you can offer the market.

there was an interview i did with a fellow warrior in a wso here:

PS: do you have a niche in mind you are looking at?

Go to an authority site like ebay and comeup with ideas -That's what all gurus say. The problem is because everyone does that, you'll rarely find really good keywords.

The easiest approach is to automate the whole process - get a paid membership of a PPC intelligence tool and they'll give you thousands of micro-niche ideas to download. It will save weeks of your time.

Joe ... hate to tell you this but all of that is part of finding niches!

start with looking at ebay pulse - look at magazines.com - look at ezinearticles.com (the main page - subjects)....etc.

find seed keywords you are interested in ... then plug those into any of the umpteen gillion keyword tools to find similar/long tail keywords...get the google results, then the magic happens (not really, but sounded good).

export the keywords/phrases, with the results ... sort by searches. look at the longer tail keywords that are not getting tons of searches...say less than 1000/month.

Now...does this mean they are small untapped niches? Not exactly, but they could be. Maybe these niches/words are not worth the effort. The only way to tell is to dig deeper. Do a google search on each one and start visiting the sites that are ranking for those keywords...what are they selling? Do a search for the products they are offering. Take those products and run them as well through a keyword tool.

Something else you can do is collect some niches you are interested in (after doing the above) and find an expert in that niche...ask him/her what they think of your findings. Where to find experts? Here ;-) ... search for subject specific forums, go in and see who is the most active participants ... and ask them for help.

And as Mike suggested...get the niche WSO and go from there.

The main thing to remember is that many people have different ways to do research on a niche...take everyone's suggestion and try them for yourself.

      Or just hire someone ;-)

      Good luck!
