Good Looking Site vs. a Great Looking Site.

It appears to me that the main difference between a good looking site and a great looking site is it's, ah, appearance. (Okay. Once again we are overcome by the merely obvious.)

Those of you who consistently create great looking sites (according to your clients) please share some tips, guidelines, suggestions, etc.

I'm starting to get a higher quality of clientele and want to continue to exceed expectations (especially my own.) Any help, guidance, and suggestions is (are) appreciated.

For a great looking site I think you need to build it with a custom theme and design. Great looking sites are all about colors, fonts, graphics, layout, and relevance. it's quite an art.
