Permalink to Private Page is giving me a 404!?

I'm using wordpress, and I have a page with visibility set to private.

This page is going to be used in my autoresponder series, but I don't want to be seen from my theme's main pages menu.

Sometimes, and I can't figure out the pattern to why or when, if I try to reach this page, I receive a 404 error - page not found.

It's really boggling me.

In firefox it is currently working. In IE it is not. Aweber also says its an invalid link.

A 'Private' page in WP is invisible to everyone except a logged-in blog admin. Anyone who is not logged in will get a 404. That's why it's playing hide-and-seek with you - sometimes you're logged in, sometimes you aren't. When you are, you can see the page, when you aren't, you can't.

If you just want to remove a page from the navigation, you'll have to adjust your theme directly. You may have a theme that has customization options, Thesis for example, that might allow you to exclude the page without getting into the core files.

Interesting. This theme doesn't use a custom menu for the page listings, so I'll have to do some codework.

        Problem Solved:

Set the page as a child to another page, the theme's default coding doesn't show the hierarchy of pages, just the top level ones
