Yes, it's back again, the season of scammers. They've suddenly discovered Christmas is almost on them, they've spent all their money, and now they need to find some more "Mugs" to pay for their gifts to their family.

I mean if you tell your family you earn $1,000 a day doing nothing, and then can only afford a small box of chocolates, maybe the family will call them out on their claims.

This is the time, when forums get a lot of new people, who post pointless post and drivel to get their post count up, and post a WSO to see how many "Mugs" will buy.

  1. There are some professional scammers around, and they know exactly which buttons to press when asking you to buy.
  2. There are some professional scammers around, who have no desire to leave, because they know which side their bread is buttered.
  3. There are those who are after a quick buck, and don't care how they do it.
  4. There are those who get caught, and come back time and time again.
The point is that you can't rely on :-

  1. Post count, remember the scammers who make a zillion posts in one day. Not all high post counts = scammers.
  2. Length of time, a professional scammer is smart and they work just within the rules.
  3. Testimonials of product, a scammer will get friends to post fake testimonials, or they will create a bunch of fake identities to post fake testimonials.
  4. Products which are identical being sold by more than 1 person. That breaks the WSO rules, because if they are all saying they are the creator and they have different identities, then need I say anymore.
It is time to be aware of the problems with shopping online. Yes, even buying a WSO is shopping online. Don't be a "MUG" this Christmas.

This is an old book, was written when a scammer came back to the WF. Download it, have removed the sign up. Read the bit about scammers, and do your due digilience.

If you can't afford to lose that $27 then don't send them the money.

It's always the season for scammers, they will be around regardless of the season.

There are professional scammers and there are also idiot, almost amusing scammers.

Mug - idiot! Is that a British term then?

I personally have stopped buying and to some extent looking at WSO for now and if I do feel the need, I look first for the people that I've bought from in the past and whose posts I regularly read in the main forum.

      Good advice as usual Bev!

That's possibly from the meaning of mug as slang for face, as in "ugly mug" (?)

Your definition of mug as meaning gullible is more accurate than the rather general "idiot" interpretation.

It's very easy to check a profile and view past posts and past threads started by a member.

The join date is also very visible - and if someone joined a week ago, has 200 posts, and half of those are rude - you might not want to deal with them.

Also, if the WSO sounds like the solution to your money problems, good idea to see if the seller post "how do I make money" or "I'm a newbie" a couple weeks ago.

The one mentioned above was outed days ago but the thread was deleted - let's just say that may be a team effort - as site registrations are not in the name given here.

I agree with what's been said so far. If you're new to this forum, then sit back for a while and observe... especially before you buy anything. Find out who the trustworthy members are, and do business with them... at least until your scamdar is finely tuned.

        Also...

I have to say that the one who wants your $27 is from Romania, but please read the rest carefully. We have at least 1 other warrior who is also from Romania, and please don't assume he is also a scammer, he is working hard to prove the opposite. He is a hard worker, and trustworthy.

      Romania?

Call me paranoid....but Vinnie here aint sendin' no money to Romania. Not today, not tommorow....not ever.

It's the home base of Dracula, his offspring, and some of the most ruthless gypsies, tramps, and thieves..... who ever picked up a tarot card.....and dealt it off the bottom of the deck like pro!

These people never really die either. They live forever...running their carnivals....they never die!

      That's scary!

They live forever....while scratching their monkey paws....and putting curses on guys like me when I'm trying to shoot dice in Las Vegas.

Tryin' to get a fair shake with them gypsies...is like tryin' to beat the Three Card Monte....it aint gonna happen.

And they'll take you'se hook line and sinker...on dry land! Trust me on this one, Warriors.

No offense to the cool Warrior dude in Romania..but I'd like to see what he does if I touch him with some fresh garlic cloves, or splash some holy water on 'em.

If he doesn't MELT.. ...I'll apologize...but I aint takin' no chances.

In the last 3 weeks I get about two emails a day saying that I've won the national or Irish lottery (have'nt entered) or there is a dormant account of $13,000,000 that can be accessed by me even if I am no relation.
Why do con-artists exist and why can't they find a legitimate way of making money without stealing peoples identity?
I asked this question to one e-mail and all I got in reply was "thanks for response fill out the form and we proceed with the transaction".
Now to even put this is on autoresponder means that they are not even bothered to do the conning properly.
If there is anyone in the world who has been fooled by these e-mails then it is their own greed that has cost them!!
You do not get something for nothing in this world.

Hey now, it's possible the WSO is about troll marketing or getting lots of attention or website traffic by being a troll, which in that case, he sure is an expert

Or if it's a WSO on how to kill your reputation in just 1 day, I'd say he's an expert on that too

By the way, everyone here is in violation of his "infraction policy" which is downstairs.

Bev, over here in the wonderful states of America, a "mug" also means your face. Like if someone says, here's a picture of my mug they mean here's a picture of my face. That came from mugshots. I have never heard "mug" meaning gullible before.

Yeah unfortunately where there is money to be made there will be those who will try and scam you and the system to get even more cash out of it.

When dealing with people on forums post count isn't a big indicator they are honest.

The safest way is to deal with them on a small scale to start out, talk to them on an instant messenger, if they have a phone number give them a call, there are a lot of ways you can avoid the scams floating around out there.

Or they will offer a "free" gift in the main forum. While this would be OK if it were a direct download file, it is usually a list building technique and the product usually pimps the hell out of a purchasable product.

        Thanks.

I was thinking there is no point is earning quick cash! If you can make your reputataion, then what will you do after few yrs...They should realise this fact and instead of make startegies to scam us, they should make a list, build reputation and then earn money.

And whan they first make the money doing hard work, they will enjoy much more, and will feel much happy!

This is a time where people are desperate for money, and the scammers KNOW that. You sure are right about them knowing what buttons to push.

Ironically, when I have a product that's decent, I get frustrated because even though my stuff is great, it pales in comparison to the outrageous claims that scammers and inflaters make. Ugh!

    Thank you Bev,

Being a newbie on this forum (just look at that post count!), and to making money online in general, sorting through the offers is quite overwhelming at times. I've done a bit of lurking to get the lay of the land and your points above are helpful.

  • The only episode of NCIS I ever saw had some neat automated blackmail scam going on.

The guy setup a fake myspace profile and then chatted up young guys who married rich women, then when they showed up at the ladies apartment it video taped them al lthe way through to the shower where there was a manequin and a camera that snapped a picture.

Then they sent the picture to the guy and demanded $10,000 or else. If you wanna be a scammer, have a little imagination like the NCIS writers
