deciding on a domain... catchy or literal?

Hi guys. I'm trying to decide on a url for a new site I'm developing.

I have one I like that's catchy and memorable, a 1 name .com more of a brand I guess.

The other, is a 3 word description of what the site is, .com

Also easy to remember, but not as catchy....

The catchy one has the main keyword in it, and is a sort of play on words... I won't be relying on SEO to get traffic.

So catchy or literal?

  • If SEO is not your thing, go for the catchy domain to create brand.

If you aren't relying on SEO, go for the catchy name.

Well, I want to just deal with one domain, one site....

hmm, I like the catchy one. But with the literal one, if it was in my sig for instance, you'd pretty much know what it is, and you'd probably want to click it... the catchy one... i guess I could use a tag line.

If the catchy one has the main keyword in it, go for that. But for a few bucks more, you can get the other one as well and point them both to the same site. That way you can dominate both directions. It's seasy peasy to do.

    You need something that is:

    1- Easy to remember
2- Has your primary keywords built in
3- Something that sounds professional and best suits the theme of your site

Have you used marketing samurai? If not, I suggest that you use it. Most people including myself when I first got started, do not do enough research before getting started.

By doing the research needed, you will save yourself months and even years of aggravation.
