I was wondering about the 50 link limit that we put in pages -or- posts...

my question is -- Is a link withing an image in the page -or- post count towards that number?

      I've heard this dozens of times from different sources.... One source is from GoDaddy.

      Yeah, supposedly if you have 50+ links in a page or post then google will penalize you...
      which will include any outbound links which will also include your sidebar links.

    There is no limit for links on page. I say lot page with more then 300 links. Image link also count as outbound link from a web page.... cheers...

    Google recommends, but does not require.

    I don't believe there is a penalty on that, or at least I have never noticed one.

    Take a look at the pages from the WF in Google's index. Most of them have far more than 50 links on them, yet those pages are still in Google's index.

      The amount of outbound links isn't as important as the sites you're linking to. You can definitely be penalized if you link out to untrusted sites/"bad neighborhoods", sites that run malicious scripts or have other shady stuff going on that google frowns upon.

      For the amount of outbound links, however, you won't be penalized. The only thing happening might be that not all those links will be spidered (which is why sitemaps, for example, are sometimes split into several documents instead of just one file).

    I tend to limit Sitemaps to 500 links, but that is a matter of page load time and a user-friendly experience.

      When you guys are talking about sitemaps.... are you talking about google xml sitemaps, or areyou talking About sitemaps that wecreat for customers... like Dagon Design Sitemap Generator - for example?

    Are there really suggested limits to links per page? This is news to me, especially when you see how many links there are on many pages.
    Anyone know the answer, is there a limit. Could put the link sellers out of business.!!!

      There is a recommendation somewhere in the Google Webmaster Blog indicating that they recommend no more than 100 links on a page.

      But if you watch closely what is in Google's search results, it is clear that its algorithms are not paying close attention to that number as a ranking factor.

    I think popular blog posting have more then 100 links and many blog posting have more then that. I think there is no limit of links going outbound but the link juice of that posting become less, means it OBL value is high....
