By demonstrating that you know what you're talking about
and that you can PROVE that the techniques you recommend
    actually work.

That said, gaining credibility takes time - especially in the
field of Internet Marketing where many prospects are rightfully
skeptical of providers. There are just too many charlatans and
some outright scammers in this industry.

You need to get clear on what REAL value you can offer
people in the Internet Marketing field and then build a solid
case for why they should buy from you.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

  • Very simple: delivery the following...
    • Quality free content
    • Undeniable proof
    • A few powerful JVs in the niche pushing traffic your way
That's it. That's how "gurus" are made overnight.

Other than what's stated by Shaun and Anonymous, it's also very important to start building relationships with authoritative people in your niche.

I don't think it's really possible to gain expertise and credibility quickly, especially in the IM niche. It should come as a natural progression of your experience level in the niche (this is obviously dependent on how quickly you progress), and of course the most compelling evidence you can provide is irrefutable proof that you've actually accomplished what it is that you're offering to teach.

There is no need to overcomplicate things - once you have this element in place, then everything else you need to become a recognized expert in your niche should come quite easily.

It depends on your definition of instantly. I believe we have one example right on the WF which appears nearly "instantly" by the name of Caleb. He's young, smart, involved, and has worked to create great rapport with leaders on the forum. By doing so he has managed to gain respect, acquire credibility, and exhibit his expertise.

Obviously he is an exception to the rule, but it illustrates it can be done.

By instantly, I mean within the space of a few weeks or less (obviously, this is stretching the term a little as 'instant' really means right now). I know Caleb very well, and while his success may appear 'instant', it has really been the culmination of much hard work over the course of at least two years.

He has endured a lot to get to where he is today, and the initial stage (which has been much longer than just a few months) involved a lot of effort for not a whole lot of money. The reason why success and credibility can often be perceived as 'instant' by many is due to the fact that progress is most assuredly non-linear - you'll put in a lot of effort over a relatively long time and experience very little progress until you come to that 'inflection point' (differential calculus term) where things progress very rapidly all of a sudden. It is only at this stage that many people sit up and take notice, and as a result they have this mistaken impression of someone's success and credibility occurring very quickly.

One thing is experience, and a whole different thing is credibility. It's ENTIRELY possible to gain credibility and guru status overnight. All you need is a carefully-crafted product launch with the 3 points I listed above in my previous post.

There are tons of 20-year old kids who went from under-the-radar marketers to "gurus" by simply launching an IM product teaching what they do.

This is true, but you do not just engineer a 'guru-style' launch overnight. Even superstars like Frank Kern spent quite a bit of time working behind the scenes and amassing verifiable and repeatable results, before making a big splash with a product launch.

Sure, you can go the route of some of these kids that launch sketchy products of dubious quality literally overnight, but that may not do too much for your credibility once the truth comes to light.

As a real newbie in I.M., I've already realised that overnight success is not going to be mine - and nor would I want it to. It's a road that will take a lot of time and effort, but posting on here and soaking up advice from those with much more experience has to be a good thing.

You need to offer value, over deliver, give proof where you can (not always easy if your new) e.g. if your selling a product about making money show your results in a screen shot or video or if your product is on traffic generation again make a video logging into your google analytics and showing where your traffic is coming from, give great customer service/support.

A good tip for you is to offer your product through a WSO as a lot of people leave there comments/feedback which you can use as testimonials. Also there are some big names in internet marketing on here and if one of these marketers buy your product and leave a testimonial BINGO you have a big dog bigging your product up.
