Go Daddy for the domain and Hostgator for the hosting seem to be the popular ones. Personally I use vidahost, a company in the UK. Never had any problems.

These are who I use with no problems. Godaddy for domains and hostgator for hosting. Host Gator is $10 for unlimited hosting (they have cheaper packages). And for GoDaddy you can also find coupons for cheaper domains just do a search on google.

Makes sense. I always advice people to go for the the industry leaders. For domain it's godaddy(godady sucks in hosting). For hosting it's hostgator(One of the few big companies with so many positive reviews.).

@OP
What kind of traffic are you looking at. Shared hosting is meant to cater for small to medium sized website so when your traffic becomes cumbersome, a VPS will be your best best.

Most people loose money when they start out due to start up costs. I'm building a Homestead site for my 9-5 job and the first month is free. I have also hired some one here to build me an Amazon site. Wish luck on your start up. You should consider you will loose money at first but try to make a great site, so you can eventually make money off it. That will take time and alot of effort. Good Luck

My opinions are always cheap

It depends whether you are going for SEO rankings or not and what your target demographic is. E.g. It's better to get hosting in the target country, so if you are targeting the UK for example, get hosting in the UK. If you're gonna use PPC to drive traffic, it's less important where you host your site.

I'm glad to say I've never looked failure in the face.

I use Moniker for Domain and HostNine for webhosting. Sorry but GoDaddy drives me nuts and Moniker has $8.99 .com domains without having to fuss with a coupon

A VPS is a virtual private server. Unlike a shared hosting account where you share a server with thousands of users. It is like when s system is partitioned into different fragments. So you don't have to worry about slow server due to server overloading et al. A VPS gives you more breathing room meaning that you have more disk space, bandwidth(traffic) and control.

Since you are looking to start and save money, start with the baby package on Hostgater. You can always pickup the phone and upgrade at a later date. The key is to get started at this point in time

Just go for any of those plans. Though the business plan makes more sense. Then when your shared account can no longer cope with the surging traffic you'll have no choice but to upgrade to a VPS except you can afford a VPS right now.

As many have suggested Hostgator provide a great solution for a decent price. You also know you are getting awesome support with them, and they have 24/7 chat, etc.

For domains, Namecheap is definitely my recommendation, I have over 250 domains with them, and they will look after you well.

If you are planning to do only affiliate marketing, then why to go for hosting. You can do domain redirect to your affiliate links.And,Try namecheap.com for buying domain. Probably, the cheapest available on earth.

I register my domains with Go Daddy and host my websites with Host Gator. You can give them a try. The customer service is good too.

I don't know the gator deal but I use Vexxhost for one of my sites and I've had zero problems with them and it's much easier than using Godaddy. As for Godaddy domains ALWAYS look for a coupon on google. They always seem to be available and it always saves me money to spend 15 min. looking for various coupons before checking out.

Godaddy has been pretty reliable as a server for a couple of my sites, too, BUT their CP is buggy and I've yet to figure out how to host multiple sites there and when I called Tech Support to ask they couldn't tell me. Then when I tried email for info on it they didn't help much either. Finally I gave up but I have to get back to it some day soon.

I'll check out this gator hosting...

I believe some of the big hosting companies also offer free google adword credita and lost more

Always cheaper to buy a yearly hosting package than paying monthly

AQnd don't forget backup. A big host will normally automatically backup your full site every 24 hours and also offer 24.7 technical support when you get stuck, which we all do
