Facebook fanpage question -iFrames issue

I recently had a freelancer switch my FBML-based reveal tab fanpage to iFrames. Right after the switch, I was getting this Hostgator error: Fanpage error screen - radar9628's library . Now, I don't get that error but I no longer see my FREE GIFT link on the left column of my Admin account on my own fanpage. When I go into the EDIT PAGE button and then click APPS on the left column, I get this message about a secure connection: 2011-03-27_0848 - radar9628's library . When I click the continue button, I can see the landing page of my fanpage, but I logout and login again the same problem occurs. I am not the sharpest tool in the toolbox when it comes to this stuff, so I need some insight. Is the new iFrames format the problem? Is it something that the freelancer did/did not do?

Thanks.

Read this: Tutorial: Add an iFrame Application to your Facebook Fan Page - 2011 | HyperArts

You'll see that one of the options when building the app is a secure tab url (https vs http). The secure tab url (path to your app files) is "optional" but....

"Note: If you do not enter a Secure Tab URL, visitors will not be able to access your Custom Fan Page Tab if they are connected to Facebook over SSL (https). The app will not be visible to them and they will see your Wall rather than your Custom Tab if they access your Fan Page"

So if you're accessing the page via https but there is no certificate or no secure tab url specified in the app that's going to be a problem. If none of this appears to be the issue, go back to your freelancer for answers.

HTTPS can be an issue due to Facebook now allowing a secure Facebook connection:
    Account>Account Settings>Account Security>Change>
Make sure there is a check next to:
Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible

Now your connection, including viewing fanpages, will be secure until you log out of Facebook.

    I also check:
When a new computer or mobile device logs into this account: Send me an email

      whoow that's a great tutorial!

It says the static FBML is going to get booted soon, didn't even know that! I'm going to create myself an iFrame right away

      Cheers!

FBML prior to the recent change will still work. New FBML won't.

      • FBML isn't being booted off, otherwise FB would lose millions of pages but everyone would be switching over to iframes.

Hi Brian - sorry I took so long to reply. The item below was already checked. I checked the 2nd one per your suggestion. I think the new fanpage set-up has no link on the left side about the FREE GIFT since I am an Admin. (Seems like there was a link before the iFRame changeover - but I'm not positive.) I can access the page inside the EDIT PAGE function so I guess that solves the problem. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain this to me.

      Bamsgt,
I'm not a programmer - I outsource that stuff. I'd post a new thread with your question and see what kind of responses you get.
