I have known a lot of method that bring traffic to our website.I tried almost of them but not get much traffic
Here is all the method I know and please tell me which is the best method in your opinion

1 . SEO : This is the most popular and long-term method but really work for getting organic traffic from search engines
2 . Paid traffic : like Google Adwords, Facebook Advertising, Yahoo Search...
This method will get good traffic quick and targeted but we have to pay for that
3 . Forum marketing : To success with this method you need to make a good reputation in the forum which you join in by posting good information
4 . Social networks : Twitter and Facebook are now very huge and active. If you have a lot of FB friends or Twitter followers you could do anything you want
5 . Subscribe List Building : This method always work well but need a long time to build such a good list
6 . Article Marketing : This method now seem to be down and not very effective but I think squidoo and hubpage are still good
7 . Classified Ads : This method is also free but I did not see any result from this.Btw the best classified ad site is Craiglist but they require phone verification
8 . Video Marketing : You need to make a video your own and watermark it by your website URL then upload to Youtube
9 . Blog commenting and blog guest posting : this method may work very effectively but you need to write an unique and well content article tu be publish on high PR blog

Which method do you think is best and work effective now. Please share with us

Thanks

For free traffic, SEO and Social Media (specially Facebook Pages and Twiter).

Forums and blogs can work pretty well on some niches but none on others and are very time consuming.

Facebook adds and Google Adwords are also great ways to get paid traffic.

This really depends on what the hell you are trying to achieve.

Who is your target audience (ideal traffic type) ?

    Where do they hang out?

What sort of behaviour do they indulge in online? (watching vidoes, or chatting in forums? etc)

Also, these variables change when considering what you are trying to achieve, ie, some people will be more interested in filling out a lead capture form than others, etc..

You need to be more specific when asking a question like this.

Without knowing your target audience or traffic, it's very arbitrary...

If you want to generate an increase in your site's traffic, it needs persistence and hard work. Try not to spend even if you have the full financial support. There are several strategies that are free yet revealing to be effective in getting traffic for your site. Blog commenting and forum posting are said to be the most simplest methods in building links.

They are not complicated techniques, so I suggest you start with these methods.

Hey mmoreal, looks like your spread yourself bit broad on the traffic generation.

Although it depends really on how much time you can spend doing each of these, if your online full time then doing all these methods is fine. But if your online for a couple of hours a day I would say you should narrow your methods down to one or two. You then want to master these methods (and when i say master, you need to start seeing considerable results from them before moving onto another)

In my opinion Video marketing is quite a big free traffic generator at the moment, i see in your description it says just Youtube, but there are many video sharing sites (Metacafe etc) upload it to all of them, really spread that video out there so its viewed as many times as possible.

If you looking for paid advertising methods PPC is defiantly very very effective, before you jump in there you want to really think about your target audience and what their searching for on the web, then trial a campaign for a day or so and see the CTR %.

    Hope that helps!

Let me make the OP's list a bit more comprehensive, shorter and easier to focus on:

      1. SEO
      2. Niche Activity
That's it. Optimize your site, get high PR backlinks (I strongly recommend full version of Market Samurai for that) and establish yourself in the niche by participating (NOT advertising) on forums, blogs etc.

How long have you been marketing your site for and to what audience?

If its only been a month or 2 and all you have done is write one or two article upload a video and do a few tweets then what else would you expect?

The key to ranking well with search engine is about 10% on page seo and 90% off page seo, plus it all depends where you links are comeing from.

ie static profiles created by the thousands by xrummer and other softwares will give you about a 0.0001% increae in google no matter how many links you build this way.

Having relevant content about your site on other relevant sites targeted in the same niche as you is way more effective than having 1,000s of spammy links.

Adwords will get you traffic instantly but if done wrong will burn a whole in your pocket faster than clickbanks push button profit softwares.

Article marketing, press release and video marketing are still some of the best methods of generating long term traffic and helping your site up the search engines, but you need to to have good quality content so that other high value sites will use it on the re sites and link back to yours.

Without the correct software or focusing on one thing at a time SEO will consume your time fast.

Concentrate on one thing and go for it like mad, articles, videos or book marking in the long term they will work.

    Hello:

I do all the organic SEO stuff first, but that takes time and a lot of work. PPC gets you the best quality traffic fast. Adwords is best followed closely by Microsoft Adcenter. Facebook ads can get you a lot of traffic but it does not convert well - not even for free opt ins. Of course I build my list as my main goal. The money is in the list.

All of these techniques work, the real question is how you implement them in a way that is most profitable and least time consuming.

For example, so many people jump to writing articles, blogging, bookmarking and videos as well as paid advertising without really testing their ROI.

Anyone can generate several hundreds visitors to their site each day in a very short period of time (either paid or unpaid) - but the trick is are you doing it in a way that you can TRACK the results.

Use Google Analytics, Website Optimizer (at the very least) both are free from Google - for those of you on 1ShoppingCart, they have a decent Ad tracking module that you should be using.

With Analytics and Ad tracking tied into both your free and paid advertising you can get a pretty good idea of what combinations of keywords/content result in actions (list signups or sales)

I favor rolling out 1 traffic generation method at a time WITH testing, when you find a combination of keywords & content (or ads if you are doing PPC) with landing page that converts, then you can broaden your knowledge of that combination into other traffic generation methods testing to make sure they work across methods.

Going all out with traffic generation not testing and learning is like shooting in the dark, every once in a while you may hit (get a sale), but you will be leaving allot on the table

The best way to get traffic on demand in my opinion is a little brute force seo and targeting current events and news.

My New April fools blog is lighting up like wild fire. A lot of people are going to the search engine in the masses looking for the latest and greatest prank Idea. Wait till April first my traffic will be insane....but

The trick is getting these visitors to do what I want them to do, in my case is fill out freebie cpa offers. Its easy to bully your visitors into doing what you want them to do by making it seem like its their idea.

Hey, it depends on what you're selling/providing.

There are some niches that work well in some avenues and others don't.

SEO is the most popular like you said, in part..its more inbound marketing

    than outbound.

You set yourself up so that people looking for it will find you...

    make sense?

facebook ads to promote your fan page seems to be working well for me so far. It's best used to build a prospect list to interact with and market to with deals, promotions, etc. From there the ones lcicking through to your actual site are very likely to buy.

I have the ads on fb set to college graduates as my products are $200-700. Spending $10 per day to build up a community, plus friends of . This is the new "list". Not many check email sub lists anymore.
