Avoiding negative people and their defeatist attitudes

I stopped using msn a while ago cos it was sapping my time.

Well today I signed on since not talking to a guy who I used to talk to daily about things.

I thought I'd tell him what I'd been up to with marketing to perhaps give him the opportunity to come in on it himself. I did this cos he is smart so would get it quickly if he was open minded enough to try.

I originally stopped talking to him because he had so many limiting beliefs. I realized I probably only used to talk to him because it gave us things to main about to each while not doing anything.

Well speaking to him for just 5 minutes today after explaining the IM to him I realized he hadn't changed.

Every sentence I would tell him about IM he would give another negative belief- only 1% of people click adverts. It's pretty saturated and would only work if X, Y, Z.

Well I don't have time for that negativity in my life so I just shut the convo down without even a goodbye.

I know it may seem ironic to write a seemingly negative post about these negative people but I think it's important to not let negative people bring you down. Instead you must cut them right off at the root cos they would only drag you with them if you let them and we must maintain our positive homeostasis .

I was in two minds about writing this cos I was thinking it may just end up as a bash negative people thread which isn't too productive either but w/e.

If there were no negative, then there would be no positive, so being negative might be more positive than you think.

I think there are two kinds of people in the world: people that see the world as a place of scarcity, and people that see it as a place of abundance. The former mindset results in negative beliefs and an "I must have it all" attitude, while the latter mindset is the key to wealth (not just money).

All the way up to my early 20s, I was surrounded by people with a scarcity mindset. My parents strongly believed in the "go to school, go to college, get a job, find a wife, buy a house, retire in your 60s" lifestyle. To even think of doing anything else would be blasphemy. My friends were exactly the same, all they want to do is just smoke weed and play video games all day, every day. It seemed like they had no real ambition to speak of.

As you can probably guess, I fell into this trap as well. If you're reading this far, chances are you can relate to some of what I'm saying. Because I was so indoctrinated with this scarcity mindset, I found a girlfriend in college that shared that life philosophy. After about 2 years, I realized I had changed my perspective completely, while my girlfriend and my friends refused to change. I realized that if I was to move forward with my life and my business, I would have to leave them behind. That was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but to this day I don't regret it.

Moral of the story: don't let anything or anyone get in the way of your dreams. People are evil, especially when you start having success. They will want to sabotage you, sleep with your wife/girlfriend, and do anything they can to bring you down to their level. And these are your friends! Business is a tough game, and you have to protect yourself and your business at all costs.

      • Totally agree with you srdjank.
It's really easy for people to be mean online.

        Just keep the positive attitude.

.... Lol, but "trying to sabotage you because you're successful" and "sleeping with your wife or girlfriend" are two different things! The former you can move on with, the latter? Hard to be positive on that one.

It's a quote from Donald Trump's latest book, How to Think Big and Kick Ass In Business and Life. I referenced it just to emphasize that you always have to be careful, even around friends.

I hate talking to people who believe nothing will work. I try to be positive about everything I do and I like talking to people who are positive too. It's like a motivational boost.

Just like the old saying goes: "life is what we make of it." If someone chooses to see things in a negative light, then let 'em be. You did the right thing by just cutting that person off from the root.

Like the gentleman above me said, if there was no negative then there would be no positive.

Or another way of saying it would be, "you can learn as much from fool's, as from sages"

It's good to keep an open mind, just not open enough for people to shovel %$#@ into.

My personal favorite is when people sidle up and tell me somethings impossible...when I have been doing same for years.

A couple of weeks ago, I met a guy that was barely making any money online at all. (Does the few cents on AdSense count?)

He bought a "crappy" IM product, and today he is making a full-time income online.

I called him up (he's my subscriber) and I asked him what's his secret.

He told me, "I always see the bright side on everything. Sure, there are always negative thoughts surrounding us, but if we eliminate negative thoughts, positive results will happen in our lives".

Inspired by how humble and how he views the world, I made a video that I am going to send out to my subscribers about how important it is to think positively:

    "Spread the positive energy!"

My best friend is like that.

There is only one way to make money - Get a job that has a union and work lousy hours with Hitler like rules and conditions.

He has a very narrow mind about this.

He is negative about a lot of things too - but I am always positive and optimistic.

But he is still my best friend. We just agree to disagree and talk about other things.
