"The" on Domain for affiliate products

Found a certain generic product with alot of searches but little to no competition. Exact XXX.com is already taken and it is certainly impossible to purchase (7 figures price on SEDO).

However TheXXX.com is available, is it a good investment or not? easy to optimize??

I know they say Facebook is better than TheFacebook but buying exact match is out of question because of the price.

often you can use a stop word as a prefix or suffix, here's a list of stop words: Online SEO Guide: Google Stop Words - A Comprehensive List Of Words Google Ignores

Remember not a good idea to buy domains that are trademarked eg. Facebook but I presume that was just an example.

    yes,

These days it is enough to have a part of your domain as the keyword. that's a good alternative to an EMD

Thanks, the word is actually not trademarketed because it cannot be trademarketed lol, something sort of generic generic like a "SportsCar"

Using "stop" words when the domain is already taken is a great way to come up with a decent domain to use. Have you checked to see if the other domain extensions (TLDs) have been taken? You don't necessarily need a .com in order to rank for the term, so don't neglect the other TLDs.

Ill take a look at stop words. Well i ran a check and every regular extension was taken, only obscure extensions were available with exact match, what do you think of them do they hold the same value as the usual extensions:

This are the available extensions for exact matches

As long as you get your exact keywords into the TLD I would think it doesn't matter how you go about it. So whether you add a single letter at the end of the domain, or add "The" at the beginning.

I prefixed "the" on two affiliate site domains and haven't had any trouble ranking or getting sales. It's a go from the technical side.

Creatively, "the" sounds great at the front end of some phrases. (The Greatest Story Ever Told, The Best Little Whore House In Texas, The Copywriter's Handbook)

In marketing, "The" carries some weight, but not as much as it once did. It's stilled used by advertisers to imply "definitive source", but jaded consumers ignore it as fluff.

                Opinions differ.

For myself, after what I've read, researched and tested (which is pretty limited, of course), I'd much rather add something at the end than add "the" at the beginning - personally, I avoid that.

Spot on. This is good advice.

yes, adding something in the end works better for me too. I would never compromise with that. I always have the keyhword that I want to rank for first in my domain name

    I don't have a problem with dashes......
Have used them when I didn't have to, for easier readability.....

Thegreateststoryevertold.com......is easier to read with dashes...or spaces....

I am also down on oddball TDLs......believe that the "average" person would be uncomfortable...

I think that sometimes we forget about the "understanding" level of prospects for non-technical products/ services....
