Product I was promoting it's now GONE-what?

Hi guys!
I would like some answers/advice:
(I am new here and this is my first post)

I write about health and nutrition on my blog, and I finally decided to promote a fitness and nutrition program I found on Clickbank. The product had a good sales letter, banners, an even a free course series on nutrition. It fit my own content well. I signed up with an autoresponder and barely started getting the hang of how to use it. I also link to amazon products and other clickbank health related products, but haven't sold any. I know I need to rank in google and increase my traffic, but I wanted to get my viewers used to seen ads on my blog from the start.

Long story short, now the company it's gone, or it appears to be. I took it off my site, but my question is, after all the time I spent doing all that (I'm totally slow and geek impaired, and my IM efforts came to a halt due to pressure from my 9-7 job, so I'm back trying to start from scratch) how do I avoid this in the future, because I have been studying PPC and considering a campaign for this product; what if I had done it and then have this happened? That scared me.

I quit my corporate job and working as a partime Spanish teacher at a private school and started writing articles for textbroker dot com, and my income is limited.

Thanks a lot in advance!

I do a 301 redirect for all of my affiliate links. I create a folder under the main domain folder and name it something like "recommends" or "goto" and under that I create a folder for each product I promote with the htaccess file in it. This way if something happens such as what has happened to you or I decide to direct all traffic that was going to one vendor to another vendor it's pretty simple... just change the redirect to the new url or hoplink.

In your case, I'm not sure how exactly you're sending traffic to the vendors. Are you using just affiliate urls or hoplinks?

You are likely not starting from scratch, but finding a similar product to replace the one that went Poof!

Most niches have more than one product you can offer. Just find a new program, adapt your copy to it, and run.

Most niches have many different products to run with, so this should rarely be an issue.

Sure, you may need to change up a review page... or rewrite a couple of emails... but there is no reason to start over for this.

Your best bet, from the get-go, is to find multiple products immediately to protect yourself from this happening. Then, if all is well, you have multiple products to promote to them on the back end.

    Thanks a lot guys!
I guess I would have been out of luck had I been running a PPC campaign huh? that sucks So this happens a lot then, hmm
What I meant by starting from scratch, was writing a bit more, learning more WP and IM in general, though I am still at the 'frozen' stage- sort of- and just when I decided to be brave and pick a product, bam! it's gone

If you work with CPA this happens every day.

Just do yourself a favor, be brave again and choose another one.

No you wouldn't have been out of luck with a PPC campaign if you used 301 redirects as Bretski suggests. Or if you link in your campaign to a page on your blog that has an overview of the product with links. You just change it to another product and change the links.
