New email from articleBase:

Dear authors, following Google's changes to their search engine algorithm, we have taken even harsher measurements to increase and assure articles quality. Some of the changes include: 350 minimum words per article, no contact information in the article body, no duplicates of any sort and more.
We will continue doing our best efforts to improve the ArticlesBase.com experience to all authors and readers.

Now that Google has updated its algorithm to focus more on real content, perhaps all of the article directories will start to follow this routine. First, it was EZA with the more strict submission requirements, and now ArticlesBase. Who's next, I wonder?

In any case, I think that these changes are great. No one wants to read spammy content that's riddled with affiliate links all the time. I mean, it's fine to promote products and all, but do so in a way that contributes something.

I hope they don't become as strict as EZA because I also have some duplicate articles.

      They already have.

When you say duplicate articles, do you mean they are also on your site or another directory? If so they've never had a problem with that, all they want is for you to be the original author. In other words you own the article and haven't pinched someone else's.

I assume this is what you mean because I doubt you could submit the same article to them twice, which would then be duplicate content.

I think their changes are fine, they aren't that harsh and it's good that they are weeding out all the rubbish. It's something they need to do and I'm quite happy with the changes.

I've always though Articlesbase were too light with their rules. Posted links in the bisy of an article. Who does that?

This is good. They are getting rid of all of the crap and making room for good authors and good content. Authors who supply valuable content will be getting more return for their efforts. The Internet has gotten way out of balance but it's starting to recover.

This is great news for all of you who provide value to the world!

I started putting links in the article body there at one point because of the high amount of articles being scraped from there and the author bio being removed. But the the decent syndications decreased, probably because a lot of publishers don't want links in the article body. I went back to links just in the author bio and syndication increased and seems to be growing. So maybe articles base are doing us all a favour.

ArticleBase Rocks and I really like their quick approval because it help me get my link juice flow to my websites. To PatricaiJ, people can still remove links that you put on the body of your article after they scrape it. Thus, leaving you or other authors no credit for your hard work.

Yes they can, but if they are too lazy to write their own articles they might be too lazy to remove the links

I figured that using autoscrapers they would be using software that they can set to remove author bios and then autoposting to their own blogs. If autoposting they wouldn't be as likely to check to see if any links were still there because they are in too much of a rush to make some brass off other people's backs.

Sure they can, and can also lose their website(s), server, and various advertising accounts and revenue. It's not all that difficult to make life extremely miserable for those who try and strip or unlawfully edit an article you wrote, breaching the T.O.S. of the article directories. In the end there's not many companies willfully agreeable to housing disreputable cheats. Held up to scrutiny, most folks guilty of this are easily smacked down hard.

I've had one webmaster lose hosting to an entire network of sites/blogs because he/she consistently stole my content and stripped links and credit from my articles. It only took a few ignored warnings, a DCMA notice CC'd to adsense and their other advertising interests, along with a subsequent phone call to their hosting company with proof of the deception. Poof, the offender was nuked, along with his/her 12 sites - with a written apology offered to me by their hosting company. Who knows if those knuckleheads didn't also lose their accounts at adsense, Commission Junction, e.t.c... My guess is he/she/they did.

Yes, It's nofollow, but if you write excellent articles, you will rip some rewards anyway. Plus you will get found in the search engines as well.

I have several of my AB articles on Google first page. You may need to get a couple of backlinks to these articles for them to rank high though.

        Regards,
        Franck

Awesome. I was expecting for a similar rule as Ezine but sit seems that AB's changes is more reasonable. 350 words per article is cool with me.

I have not noticed much of a difference as of yet with Articlesbase (I always thought it was 350 words before hand anyway though).

I tend to use Articlesbase to actually make affiliate sales as opposed to backlinks. As they are accepting my php redirect links in there.

I also notice some blatent tiny url affiliate links being accepted in many of their other articles.

So officially are they saying no more links at all in the article body then? I will probably use them a lot less if so, because I have made some good sales directly from my articles with them.

I got some accepted today with not only links, but masked affiliate links!

I do make an effort to make my articles reasonably high quality in general though, although am sometimes a bit suprised with what I do get away with.
