Does Aweber Let You Use A Gmail Account?

Last time i used aweber i remember that they would not allow gmail accounts for use with their service.

Does anyone know if this has changed recently?

Or does anyone know what free email service Aweber does let you use?

I imagine they would allow you to use any reply address that you want to use, but there is one thing to remember in an email campaign, which aweber points out on What Should I Use For My Reply Address? :: AWeber Knowledge Base

Along with its subject line, your reply address is the first thing your subscribers see of your email messages, so your reply address should be something that your subscribers recognize from wherever they signed up.

For instance, if they did at your website whose address is www.example.com, an address from example.com should be used.

Consistency and and recognition are very important parts of an email campaign. If they don't recognize the address and name, they will be much less likely to open the message.

I can't see anything against it in their knowledge base, however, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't allow free email accounts as primary accounts. They have to prevent being used for SPAM and therefore push strongly for double opt-in, check typical SPAM filters and in some cases manually approve emails before going out. Their servers comply with SPF and DomainKeys conditions and they won't want to jeopardize their good relationship or tarnish their reputation. You probably need to contact support.

Alternatively, if you purchase a domain you could simply setup a basic POP account at that domain and then have your gmail account pick up the mail from the POP account.

If you are using a cpanel hosted service, you can go to Email Account Forwarders and forward all your emails to your gmail account. You can check all you email from one account.

Windows mail account? Do you mean Outlook? I'm not following.

(I didn't understand the rest of your post, so I will comment only on the quoted sentence)

Do you own the rotariu.com domain? - If yes, just create a subdomain "andrei" and make a new email address in cPanel...

If you don't own that domain - it will be quite difficult to have an email like that.

Clarification: unless you use a free email provider (gmail, yahoo, hotmail etc.) you need to OWN the domain that is after the @ in an email address.

To do what you are describing would require sending email from your hosting account. As I am sure you are already aware, windows mail only works with actual email services - "Windows Mail puts the email accounts you choose—like Hotmail, Gmail, or Yahoo! Mail" - from MS website.

Below is a link to the best autoresponder software on the market that you can send emails using andrei@andrei.rotariu.com as you would like to do from your local host.

Not an affiliate link - Follow Up Autoresponder Software for EMail Marketing - AutoResponse Plus

They will install it. It's about $200 U.S. Some of the biggest names in IM use and recommend this software. This is a true autoresponder. It is not like the autoresponder in your hosting account which we all know is very limited.

I hope this helps you Andrei. I don't think there is another way to do this. If there is hopefully someone will post it and we will all learn something.

            George

I don't agree that most people won't open the email if they see its from gmail. Rarely do I bother looking at the email link unless I suspect it is spam.

If people have opted in to your list, they are going to look at who the email is from rather than what email account you used.

Have a good title and message and those receiving your email aren't going to care which email account you use IMO.

Do you use your list successfully though? Could you give me an idea of how large your list is and how large your open rate is?

      Thanks

    Hello:

Yes... it is allowed, but when you try it you will get a strong "suggestion" that you don't. It's all about deliverability I think. The email servers check each incomming email for spam and if you use a free account, it's just one more strike against you. Too many strikes and you're out. I would stick with Aweber but use their spam scoring function on each outgoing email and make sure it is low. I think Aweber also does the best job of getting your email actually delivered.

If I'm not mistaken, I used a Gmail account when signing up for Aweber's $1 trial. Never got around to using it because of other commitments.

The best option is to use your own domain name as your email account. What I did was to sign up for Google Apps (free membership) and then used their e-mail service with my domain name. That way you can still use Gmail's features but with your own personalized domain name. You have to change some DNS settings though (through your registrar or the Cpanel). You can add up several users (and e-mail accounts) under one Google Apps account.

I prefer Gmail because I don't like Squirrel and other web mail clients on my Cpanel.
