Google: Block all results from www.siteofyourchice.com

I came across a spammy site and quickly hit the back button.

I noticed that the result had changed.

Below the result I had visited was
Block all results from www..com

Has anyone noticed this when hitting back space on google?

I never noticed it before but I just tried it with a random site and the same thing happened. Looks like it could be a good feature.

      Same here.
But once you block a sites results can you then unblock them?

It doesn't matter for that one visit. Obviously, if someone hits the back button they weren't going to buy from the site. The results were not what they were looking for.

What I wonder is if Google tallies up the amount of blocks to help determine your overall position in the serps ... i.e., someone who gets blocked a lot disappears.

This, along with their new Chrome extension, are said to be "signals" for determining the quality of a site and could effect rankings in the future.

This seems more like a user feature, but I doubt this is information that Google wouldn't have had already. If a page has a high bounce rate for a specific keyword then that pretty much tells them everything they need to know. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't using it in the algorithm already.

They could do that, and I suspect they incorporate that data somewhere in their algo. The problem is that it could be very easily manipulated by competitors, by outsourcing a large number of people to browse to a site and then quickly click "back" .

That is possible. Not long ago there was a WSO for a software that changes ip's and clicks on a site then leaves right away. It was marketed as something that would improve your own rankings though by using it and not a weapon against your competitors.

So a software version of many unique ip's clicking on a site and leaving already exists.
