YouTube Traffic Tips?

I haven't done any traffic gen on YouTube since about 2007-08 and it worked actually pretty well in the guitar niche.

I have no idea how it all works today though.

Anyone have any good tips for generating YouTube Traffic?

Is quantity of videos the secret?

Is keyword research the secret?

Is backlink building the secret?

Why do some videos have 10s of thousands of hits and others have 10 hits?

I think the keyword research is pretty important, but then just creating a quality video that people will want to share and look at helps...not just an Animoto slide-show, but an actual video. If you need to just use your cell phone, it's better than Animoto.

    Carson is right.

There is something compelling about a human face. Peter Kreeft says that "the face is the most numinous, most magical matter in the world. For the surface of the face, like the appearance of the world, points beyond itself, beyond the surface to the depths--depths not of matter but of meaning."

This definitely bears out what people really want to see: a face!

Not much has changed since you were gone except Youtube made it impossible to use all the old automation tools. Just make quality, keyword relevant, laser focused videos and the rest will take care of itself.

Of course you could always buy a backlink package for your video so it gets to the top of the search engines faster and stays there.

As someone who's done a fair share of video marketing here are the main points I would focus on:

Make sure your video has a voice over with your keyword naturally placed through, if you know your related keywords insert them as well.

Plan out your video to make it relevant and unique, ask for ratings, give a question for comments and encourage social interaction.

Build backlinks and send views instantly as the video has been released.

Always leave a reason to check your site (the missing piece of the puzzle should be there)

Build a quality youtube channel and in the long run you'll have a lot more success in converting and ranking (as opposed to creating automated videos one after another with ****ty voiceovers and horrible graphics).

Quality is paramount though, and it seems the focus overall online is shifting towards quality ... so make a channel worth watching and keep interacting with your target community.

One thing I know for sure though is that once your video gets ranked or noticed you should see steady gains... I haven't touched my channels in months but if I look at the analytics I can see a very steady gain in visitors from all sources.

Which in my view translates into something such as 'gaining authority'.

Which is the main benefit of creating a quality channel ... everything you release will be given instant authority at which point video marketing becomes a breeze

Anyways, hope this helped a bit.

    Cheers,

    -Konstantin.

I think the best way is to make sure the videos are worthy of watching. If you notice, all of the 'good' videos get the most plays. They're all videos that people get something out of or enjoy watching. The boring, lame, repetitive and unattractive videos don't get many plays unless they're blasted out everywhere, but then they get bad ratings.

So yeah, just make sure the videos are good and then market them to the best of your ability and the plays should follow.

For $100 I will hook you up with a video that will give you between 50,000 and 1 million views. PM me if interested.

Keep videos between 3-5 minutes long....look for popular videos related to yours and copy their tags....this will give you a great chance of popping up on the main search page or on the related videos page.

There's a free service called Viewet. It sends real views to your video, you watch other videos to earn credits but it can be minimized and run in the background.

Hey, the first part is to always focus on your keyword research. Make sure that you put alot of effort into picking the right tags/keywords.

Try to find keywords that have videos on the 1st page of google also. This way you can get a double, even a triple listing... 1 video, and 1 search in google and 1st page in you tube... if you optimize right.

Someone above mentioned spying on your competitors and "borrowing" some of their tags. This works great also.

You are allowed to put quite a few keywords/tags in you tube. Capitalize on this and use them. BUT pick 3 to really go after.

When you choose keywords, I would choose some with higher search counts and some with lower search counts that relate... you tube is fairly new so you have a good chance to get on the first page of really competitive keywords if you optimize properly.

    After you gather your keywords:

    1. same them periodically throughout your video... you tube is now transcribing your voice
    2. Upload your own transcription that has your keywords in it.
    3. Put as many of your keywords as possible without sounding unnatural into your description
    4. Your title should contain your primary keyword and it should be at the beginning of the title if possible

    5. Konstantin had an excellent overview on how to create the video. Quality content is always king and combined with good Video SEO and keyword research, you'll have a winner guaranteed.

And of course, get those views, comments, likes, favorites... all things that you tube looks at when ranking videos ;-)

In the description start every post out with your url. But, make sure you start it with http because this will turn it into a link and hopefully generate some clicks.

Generating traffic to youtube videos is pretty simple. Youtube itself gives most of the information we need to get a video viral.

    1. First start by researching a video that is performing pretty good in your niche. Open a top performing video and hit the show statistics button next to the view count. You will see what all keywords are bringing traffic to the video (easy keyword research), where the videos are embed and the referrals from the related video.

    2. Video thumbnail. Get a hot chick thumbnail and you can see the views skyrocketing . The pics should be somehow related to the video.

    3. Titles. It should be keyword rich with something exceptional.

    4. Tags. Your competitors will help on this

    5. Pay others (fiverr, micro workers etc) to share the videos through their facebook, twitter, forums etc.

    6. Contact forum moderators (in your niche) and pay them to advertise your video. The initial spike in traffic will helps a lot to get the video go viral.

    7. Get a guest blog post done, embed the video in it, you will get a lot of targeted visitors this way and will also helps to make a relationship with other bloggers, for more long term benefits.

    Hope it helps,

    Thanks.

Buying likes from various places, OR placing HD video. Hd video is hardly prefered by Youtube a high quality one, for some reason by today.

Being active help a lot. Making friends and getting subscribers is important.
When you make a video, you can message them to help you get the ball
rolling as far as views. Then, the video will have to stand on it own.
