Someone recommended submitting articles to AC, so I did, for the first time. They were rejected as 'too promotional.' Now, the articles were damn good, and not at all promotional, so I assume they meant my resource box, which was EzineArticles style with the two deep links, blah blah. But I'm not positive.

Anyone have experience with AC? Do you find it worth it submitting there, and any rules of thumb about what they consider 'too promotional'?

Also, I forgot to ask -- they really want your exclusive content. They really don't seem to be too keen on your republished content. So do you find it worth it to save exclusive stuff for them?

I submit to AC once in a while, but only when I want to make a few extra bucks and I've got nothing else going on. I don't use them to promote any of my websites. I just write informative articles on my favorite hobby and submit them for upfront payment. I've never had one rejected. They only pay a few dollars per article, but AC is a good source to use if you want to make some quick money for something small, like a nice dinner out or a pair of jeans.

For me, AC used to be a good place. I had articles accepted pretty easily. But this was in the beginning of the site's history a few years ago. Over this past year, I've had very little published there. I had something rejected for the same reason as you "too promotional". It was an article about finding success on Hubpages, and how to do it. There were no affiliate links (or any links at all) in the article or the resources so I was confused. It was a genuinely helpful article. I gave up on them after that. They seem to have ideas of what they want to publish, which is fine. But then they expect exclusive rights and pay you $3 for the article which is a complete joke. The site perplexes me, and writing is my main source of income!

Thank you, appreciate the feedback, I find you can't just jump in everywhere and twist and contort to meet every publisher's needs right now, some of them are playing a hard game to make money off the backs of the writers without giving much back, I'm trying to avoid those places without wasting several days figuring it out.

      Thanks again.

        You're welcome!

I would still use AC now and then. If I have an article published on an article marketing site or on my blog, I may throw it up on AC to see if I can make some extra money. I get a few dollars each month which isn't much.

Have you tried Constant Content? They at least let you set your article rate.
