Frustration setting in. Need some guidance!

Hey all, I know the forum is a great source of informaiton, and I also know it's a great place to get reassurance and a "pick-up" every now and then

Plan A) I started out with an Idea, I took something I was good at doing and made a blog about it. My hope was to make money via affiliate sales from CJ of a product that kinda goes in had with what my interest is.

The problem is, it doesnt really seem like there are a lot of people out there "based on my ketword phrases" (i use micro niche tool) that have the same interest the search numbers are like 150 searches a month.

Plan B) My next idea was to build a niche store based on the ebay affiliate network, but then I kinda got over that idea, not so sure why ..

Plan C) Now, I want to start a blog of my adventures of trying to break into the IM arena.. it seems that a lot of people i see start this way and it gets them going. While I develop my own product, build a list and start promotions.

There is just so many things to do, i havent made a dime yet it seems i keep getting side tracted.

Is my plan C the best plan? I can write all day of the challenges of IM and how i've been able to overcome certain aspects of it, i'm sure it will make for some great usefull content..

I don't know though, this is like the story of my life.. jack of all trades master of none lol

I need some guidance!

Dennis

  • sorry about your frustrations

starting a blog about making money online in order to make money online is worn pretty thin. you better be pretty unique at it.

not that it won't work, but it's pretty crowded right now

This is very similar to my situation too, it seems we are in the same boat, and I'm starting to feel they made this boat from internet marketers that didn't make it.

It is very frustrating, so it would be good to hear from people who have been in the same situation as us, and maybe find out what is was that they did to turn things around?.

But you're right this forum is full of great advice and stories to keep our motivation up, I just need to get on that right track then I can share my stories of success too.

      Hello,

First of all, don't let a slow start get you down.

If you know how to do keyword research and set a site up whether it be a blog or whatever, you are already half way there.

      How are you driving traffic?

the best thing you can do, and I had this problem myself, is pick one thing.

Pick one thing and do not stop working on it until it is profitable.

I was bouncing around from idea to idea when I first started too, and though I learned a lot, it delayed any profits for months and months. Although I am only slightly profitable now, I know that I am on the verge of really making it with my specific method.

Thats what it seems to me you need to do.

I have several sites that do pretty well using ebay's affiliate program. They've been pretty steady moneymakers for quite some time. One I just recently setup to capture some Christmas traffic has done extremely well the last couple of months.

I don't know though, this is like the story of my life.. jack of all trades master of none lol
I understand how you feel. The biggest problem I faced during the first few years I tried to make money online, was getting distracted by every new thing that came out or ideas for sites that would pop into my head.

For example, I would work on a site for a couple of weeks then some new idea would pop into my head, I'd get all excited about it, rush off and register another domain name, and start building that site only to get distracted about two weeks later by another great idea.

Now, I just jot those ideas down, maybe register a domain if I think I need to, but I'll finish the current site before I start on the next one. Learning task management was my biggest hurdle.

My list of ideas is now so long I'm not sure I could finish it in this lifetime.

Wow, I listened to some NPR, came back and have a bunch of great responses.

Elliot, hopefully we will be able to work through this together!

Digital Producer, I've registered my domain name on December 1st, that's essentially when I started. But I've been browsing the forum trying to get an idea since October.

    Jeremy,
I've submitted articles, made comments on blogs and yahoo messages. However with the niche i first went with, there is not a lot of people out there searching, or wanting to learn about it. It's almost like if you search "breeding striped elephants" you won't get many responses haha My idea is the striped elephant I guess..

Mad Dawg, you're so right. I need to have tunnel vision on one concept and stick to it, no matter what the temptation to jump ships are.

Jeoffrey , that is very true, behind every success there is a bunch of failures. I should know this as for me to have any success in what I do now, I did fail at first.. a lot.

Darryl, i completely understand where you are coming from. I have a notepad file "ideas" and the file is just a bunch of ..well.. everything I think my mind was moving faster then my skills for IM and it just spread me way to thin.

    Thanks for the link dbarnum!

Thanks again everyone, for the great posts!

Thanks for all the advice, the good thing for me is even though it is very frustrating, I still really enjoy it and it gives me something to aim toward to maybe be able to finally quit the day job!.

And most of the time I face the bad days with humor!, so what if the dentist gets more happy visits than me right.

At the moment its all about building my traffic, yesterday I spent the day registering for allot of the social networking sites to promote my blog, good idea or not??

Anyway today is a new day I have to work later, but here I am back at it again, another good sign right?.

Once again I want to say thanks for all your help, and yes, we will get their Dennis, it may take time, but then so does a root canal

whoa, some people can turn a profit that quick, but

I'm guessing you should prepare for 6 months to 2 years of frustration before you start turning a consistent profit. just keeping it real

if it was easy everyone would be doing it

Being distracted and sidetrack from your plans are "part" of the learning curve I suppose.

I was like you too previously! :0)

Always having "too" many ideas that I thought I want to implement but end of the day din really take actions.

After I realize the power of "ONE"......

Everything ( especially my monthly earnings) start to improve for the better...

In fact that's when I start seeing real "consistent" profits every single month.

    My advise to you.....

Always master "One" thing at a time......once profits start rolling in "consistently"....then expand to the other profitable models..

This works almost 99.9% without fail!

    Gd luck to you.....
