Can a beginner really make money online? Something that many newbies always ask when starting out in this big strange world..

Well, the answer is, YES. Anyone can make money online! It's actually EASY.

BUT (yes there is a but), in ANY kind of business, you HAVE to learn certain skills first. And trust me, the skills required are almost laughably simple when you actually get your hands on it.

You must remember, there are NO such thing as a get rich quick business. No matter what the sales page say, there is ABSOLUTELY NO SUCH THING. Online business should and must be treated just like a real life offline business. Just the steps taken, (and costs) are different!

The most basic steps of getting an online business up is as follows:

- Get a webpage (this can be by blogging, on wordpress and such)

- Create content, have a product (do your research on your niche. forums, google, things you are already good at)

- Get traffic to website

- Send free gifts to subscribers (maybe an ebook, research that you compiled together and put into one.)

- Build your list of subscribers (and continue driving traffic)

- Promote stuffs to your list of subscribers (stuffs relating to the current niche)

- Ka-chingz~ (money. $$$ =P)

And next, the skills that you need to learn:

1 - Very simple web building skills
2 - How to set up a fully functional webpage online
3 - Get an auto responder (a matter of just signing up actually)
4 - Generating traffic

Trust me, if I can give a time limit to learn all this, it's very possible to learn within 2 days! It is that EASY.

Total costs you ever need to get your business up and running?

- Domain name
- Hosting account
- Autoresponder.

Believe me, it only costs LESS then $40. (compare that to an offline business)

Here's a quick run down of the skills you need to learn..

1 - Web building skills

There are a lot of free webbuilding softwares out there, even free online versions that teaches you the very basic of setting one up.

For beginners, WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) web builders are the easiest to work with. It does it job quick and very user friendly. I recommend KompoZer. (KompoZer.net)

Now to get it up, you need the following:

- Domain name (namecheap.com, godaddy.com)
- Hosting account (hostgator.com)

This is also just a matter of signing up!

2 - Set up a webpage

This is by far the most important, but also, the MOST easiest. Did you know that ALL you need is just ONE page to get your business started??

YES, its true!

It's called a SQUEEZE Page.

What is a Squeeze Page? If you have seen a long, vertical webpage, saying something like, ATTENTION, Read This! It may save your life!. etc etc, trying to sell something, THAT is a squeeze page. I believe some of you have encountered a very good squeeze page you actually bought something. It may have an Opt-In form. Basically that is where you enter your name and email, to get something the site offers.

THAT is what you are going to do! It's amazingly simple!

3 - Getting an autoresponder (aweber.com)

This is the heart of your business. You simply NEED an autoresponder. This is how you get your list of subscribers, and enable you to promote to them your products.

How to get one? Remember how you sign up for, e.g, Hotmail? It's that easy!

What is an autoresponder? An autoresponder is a 'program', which allows you to periodically send emails to all your subscribers (those that entered their name and email in the opt-in form). Why is this important?

Because this is exactly where you send your offers to people that are actually INTERESTED in buying!! That's why the subscribe in the first place!

4 - Generating traffic

This is where you do the promotion and marketing. There are various methods out there. Forum marketing, facebook marketing, article marketing, PPC, blogging etc etc. But ALL of them comes to the same conclusion, GETTING TRAFFIC TO YOUR SITE!

It's just a matter of choice!

Last, but not least, is MINDSET.

This is the one thing that make or break a successful internet marketer. You MUST believe you can do it. EVERYTHING is possible! Remember when you tried driving a car? At first it just seem impossible? EVERY SKILL IS LEARNABLE! You have to keep at it. Don't give up!

THAT'S IT. All you need to know and learn to get a business up!

And remember, all of this just need to be done ONCE, and you're just have to monitor them!

I hope this will help clarify some beginners out there who are confused about starting an online business.

If anyone out there willing to further clarify this to help our budding new Internet Marketers, please do so and pitch in!!

Setting up website costs less than $40 if you know what to do. But if you don't exactly know what to do, then it will cost at least $100-$200. The $40 cost we are talking here is that you know how to do it. From buying domain, pointing the domain to host and installing the website.

    Just making it clear...

You can do it for under $15-$20 even, and in some cases make that money back within a month!

$5-$10 monthly hosting and a <$10 domain name. Simply download Wordpress.org (free) and your set.

Promote some Amazon products, throw some Google Adsense Ads up, Promote electronic products through Clickbank, whatever you like, it's really fairly straightforward.

It can get complicated if you let it so just keep focusing on the overall goal and not just "how do i fix the font up!"

Yes, Darkclaw, in principle it is so easy, but.... The success will not come overnight. If you are not the lucky man which can make money sleeping you have to work hard and for month until the first sale will be done. But in principle it is so easy!

Thanks for the excellent primer on starting an IM biz, darkclaw3000! One quibble, or rather addition, to your steps is the addition of a product to readily build your website. While one could start off on a budget of less than $40, that would be for someone competent in designing a site. Sure, anyone can install WordPress to their domain for free, but the themes and tweaks necessary to turn WP into a sales generating site (WP straight "out of the box" is basically ready for blogging, but not for a full sales funnel or product sales page or product review site) will probably cost money. OptimizePress, Profits Theme, and WordPress Review Theme are three good products that come to mind. They are not cheap, but they save the marketer so much time that they're well worth the cost. So add to the $40 another $100-$150 for a WP sales theme.

The other thing that I'd add is that outsourcing and PLR documents provide the opportunity to have someone else create your info product, related articles, and pre-written email autoresponder series for your email list, very quickly and without even necessarily having to become an expert in the subject matter you're promoting. At least to start the business off. It's always best to be as knowledgeable as possible in order to become an authority in your niche, which will bring with it trust, name recognition and a lot of traffic and sales.

Most newbie reading this will probably scratch their head.

    What is a squeeze page?

    What is an autoresponder?

Yikes! they will be thinking this is so daunting, I wont be able to do this?

I would start them off on something a bit more practical, and easier. Then as they can earn while they learn about the stuff you have posted. I admit that is good. but there are other things that a newbie can do to make money starting today, and see results instantly.

The newbie mentality is that He wants money now. We as marketers all know that this is possible but you need to spend hours behind a computer or have oursources working for you. But they want simplicity. They want to be able to do something and feel incontrol, and start seeing results, that can egg them on even more.

This is good info for someone intermediate. But for baby beginners not so good. You need to step it back a notch. Just my two cents.

As far as i am concerned, their is no such thing in the whole planet as 'Easy Money!'

Most of the Special Offers claim that they have a software/technology to make things autopilot and you don't even have to lift your finger to keep the cash coming... if it would have been so easy then why the hell those authors take too much trouble of creating those lengthy sales pages and why don't they just keep there so called software's/technologies as a secret, in other words who is going to kill a hen which lays golden eggs? the answer is no one!

Most of the offers are nothing more then Scams to fool newbies... to cut the long story short, there is no shortcut to success and you best learn from your mistakes over time.

Newbies... read this! Join the War Room! In there you will find tons of great ideas that are proven to help you to make your first money online. One time fee and you have lifetime access to stuff that will make your head spin. Your biggest problem will be focusing on one method so my suggestion is to:

      1) Join the War Room

      2) Pick one method

      3) Focus on that method until you find success and it become 2nd nature

      4) Then move on to a supplementary method of driving traffic, building sites, building lists etc. and build your business.

Just my 2 cents but I wish that joining the War Room had been the first thing that I had done since the method that I found my first success with were in there for the taking, to my surprise.

My suggestion is to first make the $35 on your own with your marketing endeavors. That way you've earned yourself something of value before joining the War Room.

And all the information overload that you'll come across in the War Room, you'll be able to sort through much better.

        Just my opinion!

And he's not going to get information overload and a bunch of people pushing him to buy "this WSO" or "that WSO" from hanging out in the main forum?

Plunk down the friggin' 35 bucks and he will have a lifetime membership to enough information to make $35 and stop wasting time. There are folks running around in circles chasing after that first sale for more than a year here.

Yes this is true and it does show how observant you are indeed. If I though I needed a War Room membership I would purchase one. But my ability to learn things on my own has done me well for 15 years now, so I can stick with that for now.

I have to agree - anyone is likely to waste many times the one-time cost to join the War Room (US$37). These two private forums are THE place to get the freebies that effing and some pretty amazing WSOs, many of them for less than $10-15! Trust me, you'll more than make up for your investment in the first month!

If you're serious about internet marketing, you need to join the War Room before do anything else.

first of all, if you have no money or don't want to spend money go to blogspot or wordpress or any web 2.0 that is free to get the website.

keyword reserach is the true blood, you need to spend a lot of time to find golden keyword that must be long tail, high keyword, low competition. That make your effort go easy way to kiss money online lo.

any product or service you want to promo, just find way to write review the product or if you have extreme poor english like me hehe just find a good write online who able do the job cost 5-10 buck. important and urgent to tell the writer and don't pay first until you satisfied it.

as i have going thru all the crap of using all type of marketing way, in the end feel confussing and no money earn coz keyword research not spend a good time to perform it. I think all people who wish to use any marketing way must master 4 method first and do it daily, this of course to familiar with it and know how, is truly important.

Just my 1 cent thought and painful experience

Darkclaw, your post is right to the point, good job.

I think the first step - and very important - is to find a niche market; the smaller the niche, the better (a niche into a niche).

Second - a great way to speed up the sales is entering in a JV (Joint Venture) with people having good mailing lists.
    All the best.

I'm worried that when I state, 'have a product', beginners will freeze at the thought. Because I know I did. I started thinking, 'product?? how do I get one or start to have one????' *panic*

Well a product can be in any form actually. You can write up a short essay about what you know that is informative to people. Try to answer people questions through your essay. It can turn into a FAQ, a full fledged ebook even.

To get that 'essay', go research in forums. See what people are asking, jot down all the questions, and answer them. You can even be an expert in the field.

Once you have a product, get it ready to be downloaded through your site. Next, just drive traffic your site by using various traffic methods. Even go back to the forum you were researching at. Those people who asked the question may just buy your ebook!

    Good luck!

That is the biggest problem with this forum. So many B.S. posts from people that just copy what someone else said and try to pass it off as their own advice. I believe "Mauricio copied your post as well and tried to pass it off as his own!!

It just annoys me when people try to act like an expert when they really haven't done any of the things they preach.

No wonder beginners have a hard time. Their are too many people that mislead them since their knowledge is actually limited and not based on experience.
