Need Fantastico Help, please

Has anyone been able to install anything other than a blog on Fantastico? I added a new domain to my hosting account, went to Fantastico, selected the domain and typed "articles" where it says "Install in directory". I provided the rest of the information and clicked install WordPress.

I got an error message back that access is denied. If I type blog or leave that space empty so as to install WP on the domain, then there is no problem. However I am working on an affiliate program and these are the instructions, to create this articles directory on the domain or something like that. Hosting company cannot help and I can't get a response from the product owner.

If anyone knows how to get around this, I will appreciate the help.

Thanks

That's odd. I regularly install wordpress on directories with all kinds of names. I've not had a problem

I'm wondering if somehow you included a character it doesn't like, or the name of a directory that already exists.

Try, as a test, installing in a directory called something made up (iwoieh) for example. No spaces, no special characters.

Thanks so much, Rosetrees. I did not have any spaces or characters anywhere. This is the error message I get every time (replaced username with XXXXX username)

"Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'XXXXX'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /tmp/cpanel_phpengine.1301592675.283373GPQercCF1 on line 1641
