Please help point a newbie in the right direction...

Hello everyone. I am fairly new to the world of IM and I was hoping for a little guidance.

My goals, like everyone else here, is to make additional income. I'm not really looking for "get rich quick", as I know that is a pipe dream. I would be happy with just $10-20 per day profit. That would even make a difference in my life right now.

I have read the recent thread about the guy that made over $2,000 from a 7 week old blog. That is something I am now considering doing. When I first got here to WF though, I had in mind to maybe find a current established website for sale and purchase it, then just keep it running myself.

My question is, would that be a good path for me to pursue, and if so, where is a good place to find sites for sale. Particularly niche sites that sell info products. I have looked at the WF classifieds, but didn't find what I was looking for.

Can anyone give me some pointers based on where I'm at? I don't mind investing some money, I just don't have thousands to invest.

Any help or insight would be so much appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve-O

    Hi, Steve
Digitalpoint would be the best place for this in my opinion. Especially their site marketplace: Sites Forum

The reason why is that there are many newbies ready to sell some excellent websites for prices under $100. If you're lucky and you buy a website that makes some money but the previous owner hasn't monetised it properly, you can expand it to a steady income.

Also as in any forum- make sure you gain some credibility and deal with people who have good iTrader radting.

Unfortunately there are many scammers there too, so watch out.

Getting a blog at a bargain price is good if there are constant flow of "targeted" traffic.

Else you can also build up your own blog from scratch and doing SEO the correct way.

3 months down the road....you would be enjoying the efforts for sure.

    - Ask yourself what you like to blog about

    - Check to see if there are any niche markets in that area for you to tap into
    - Either selling affiliate products, your own products ( in future) or maybe earn from ads such as adsense or selling advertising space

    - Next.....go really agressive in your traffic generation.....

    - But not just "any" traffic.....I mean "targeted" traffic

    - When you understand this BIG picture and really take actions, a 5 figure income per month is really realistic....having been there done that myself..

Yep, I agree with Aaron. There are a lot of FREE options to stake out your claim on the internet. Squidoo, blogspot, wordpress, hubpages. It's not as fast as buying something that already exists, but you'll get the satisfaction of knowing that you built it yourself. And the knowledge you'll gain in the process will be PRICELESS in the future.

    Best of luck. - Russ

I would suggest that you build your site yourself from the start.

Purchasing a site thats already rolling can save time, but 1) there are a lot of scammers out there with inflated website stats and 2) if you do it the first time yourself, you will know what to look for when you decide to branch out and purchase additional sites.

Blogs are easy to run, just poke around here and you'll be on your way!

Remember to be patient. You won't become rich overnight, in fact it will take a lot longer then that, but just keep pushing forward!

    My advice would be...

    1.Get an Aweber account

    2.Target a niche

3.Make a squeeze page for a product in that niche that has a good conversion rate.

    4. Load your auto responder with good info. about the product. Put your affiliate link in there as well. Also redirect to the product your promoting.

    5. Drive traffic to your squeeze page with cheap PPC.
