It's very unlikely a product owner is going to give away his product for free to an unknown person to review it, they will receive requests like that everyday and they will most likely be ignored unless you actually have an established site with a user base.

Yup - if you have a established site with a user base then you can request my tools should you feel like adding a review to your site - Thats the least a vendor can do for serious affiliates

Send them an email (if there's no contact address showing on their sales page, try "admin", "info" and "support" at theirdomain.com - one or more copies will normally reach them), explaining all the following:-

1. Who you are and what you've done before (give verification links)

2. What your potential interest is in their product, why you're able to promote a product in their niche and why you think from their sales page that theirs might exactly fit the bill for your (potential) customers

3. How you'd propose to market their product ... be really specific: don't just say "by article marketing" or "by PPC marketing" - anyone can say that - mention your existing lists (if appropriate), your experience, the marketing techniques you've previously found valuable in the niche (if applicable) and so on: mention three or four approaches, the last one of which comes across as a bit "unusual and different"

4. The research you've done in the niche (show that you've done some!)

5. The domain-names you already own in the niche

6. A specific question you have about the product which is designed to draw an answer and at the same time demonstrate that you know what you're talking about (not just "what the conversion rate is?" because you want to demonstrate that you're aware that the average conversion rate will have absolutely nothing to do with the conversion rate for your traffic anyway, so that's a really bad question to ask in the first instance)

The more you present yourself as someone to be taken seriously, the more likely they are to take you seriously.

The overall aim is to leave them feeling "Wow, I certainly don't want to let this affiliate pick someone else's product instead of mine".

(I confess, if I were a vendor, deciding to whom to give free review copies, rightly or wrongly I'd be asking myself "If they can't sell themselves enough to me, as a prospective business associate, for me even to take them seriously, how good are they likely to be at selling my product?").

I respectfully suggest that you keep that very much to yourself, when asking vendors for free review copies.

thanks for the good tips everyone.. It will be interesting to see what happens. If someone asked me for a free copy of my product, I would probably be very fearful that they have bad intentions, or want to copy or duplicate the product or something like that.

It would be so much better if people left phone numbers instead of email addresses.. it is very hard to build trust with another person with plain emails...

actually it just occurred to me that I could buy these clickbank products and then request a refund within 60 days per policy... but i wonder if clickbank would ban me for returning 100's of clickbank products...

don't you guys think it would be much easier to negotiate JV's etc if you had PHONE NUMBERS of the people whom you want to do business with? I am sick of email !

maybe i will start listing my phone number at the top of my site if anyone needs help.. i read somewhere that conversions can improve by 500% if you do that... i wonder why? probably because people see you are leaving your phone number and it rockets higher their TRUST of you...
