Will editing Articlesbase article affect Google Rank?

I have an article on articlesbase which is ranked #2 for its keyword in Google. However the CTR of my article is pretty poor and I want to add a link in the first sentence. If I edit my article, could it affect its ranking in Google?

Although I'm 90% sure it will have no affect at all, I'd rather play it safe and ask on here.

I don't think that just adding a link in the first sentence will affect your search engine ranking but if you start tweaking the contents of the article to squeeze out more CTR, I think it may affect it and even drop your ranking except if you have some backlinks on the article for the keyword you are targeting that will back it up.

So, the bottom line here is this, you may just add a link or tweak your content to squeeze out better CTR then send some backlinks (anchor text is your keyword) to backup the article so it doesn't get shaken up.

    Hope it helps...

no it won't... To have a better CTR in articlesbase, add link on the first sentence and make it bold.. add another one in the middle..

    My experience

I have not tried editing an ArticlesBase.com article before (although I have quite a number of articles there).

Sounds to me you have a faulty link there and you have no choice but to edit it.

But I did try editing (making the content richer with more LSI keywords) my own website.

    Results?

It did drop in rankings, aka Google Dance.

But due to me adding better content, it ranked higher after it got back (which took a few weeks).

Note: No link building was done during and after the editing period.

So if I were you, I'd take the chance anyway if that's a dead link.

it's hard to judge but why not give it a try. After all you should not rely on one site to give you the traffic.

I doubt adding a link will have much long-term affect ... there may be an initial change which often happens when a webpage is updated, but after a few days it will generally go back where it was.

What I'd spend more time on though is getting more articles to rank for this and other keywords.

No, its not a good idea to add a link on first sentence - i doubt if that will pass the editorial review or not. It should not pass. You may consider editing your author bio/resource box there and check your link itself. It is not actually clear, what you want, PR or Traffic?
If you add link on first sentence, it will affect! Thanks.
