Online Mktg vs. Service Magic??

I met with a potential client today who currently pays out about $300/mo to Service Magic for leads he gets through them. The leads could be 'window shoppers' all the way to 'I need this now!' leads. I didn't ask what % actually become buyers. What do you tell clients who think Service Magic is a service worth paying for? I told him good keyword research alone for his niche could get him qualified buyers directly through his own website/blog/video marketing etc. But I don't understand enough about Service Magic to know how they compare to online marketing.

Any feedback?
