advice about video recipe site!

i'm working on two sites at the moment, one though i haven't started because i haven't made my videos yet. how would i monetize my video site?

it's going to be a recipe site. yes, there are millions of recipes on the net, and mine's going to be for a particular type of person, that can't eat certain ingredients.

i'm going to have videos on the site, of me actually making the food. now, what do i do? do i content lock the videos, or do i make a 'member's area' type thing where once they've paid, they get access to all the videos?

for the members idea, how many videos/recipes do you think i would need to justify charging for them? 50? 100? more??

how much would i charge for this? i'm trying to take into consideration how much it's actually going to cost me to buy all the ingredients over the next few months to make these videos. i'm still going to eat it, lol, but i could honestly live myself for a lot cheaper!

also, i did a search on google for my keyword. exact match, it has 8100 global searches, competition is medium. but when i went to google and actually searched, all the sites on the first page have hardly any backlinks, and are PR1 and PR0. is this a good thing?? i also found a .com is available, but just adding 'easy' to the beginning for the keyword. could this actually work with these search results?

content locking? paid membership? help me out guys!! any advice is appreciated. sorry for the length of my questions

cheers!

Create your main recipe site with cooking utensils and appliance ads. Add how to cook this content using videos like tasty demos. Build your site first and then the videos later so you can get indexed. Do you have a good domain name?.

thanks for that. i never even thought of having utensil/appliance ads. good point. i think the domain is an okay one, it has my main keyword in it, and is easy to remember. i will have to make this site first to get it indexed, but it's till going to take me a few months to make the videos, since everything i cook i'm going to have to eat, lol...

    cheers!

You can go to ebay's pulse or amazon and check out what people are buying in reference to cooking thats how you can get buyer leads. I'm still figuring out what to do with my domain name TastyDemos but now maybe I get it in action.

i'm not sure if i'm allowed to bump my thread or not, because i read the FAQ and it said i have to pay to bump my thread, even though i've seen other people do it? i wasn't sure if that was referring to the WSO section, or all of them.

so, i'm just bumping this, because it seems that there's more people on here now, than when i originally posted.

i do specifically want answer to the bit where i mentioned the keyword result count.

sorry if i'm not allowed to bump my thread, but i also didn't want to start another one!

    thanks everyone :-)

My wife runs a few video recipe sites.

Vegan Cooking For Carnivores | Vegan Recipes For Meat Eaters
Vegan Cooking - Great Tasting Vegan Recipes

They are both free and she makes her income selling cookbooks and with advertisers.

It's VERY hard to get people paying for recipe videos with the number of food channels etc. Your value proposition needs to be massive. Better to use the videos to get traffic

thanks a lot guys! i see what you're saying, i will make the videos free after all, and somehow get my own book up and running as well.

would getting people to sign up for free get me a list? is that how lists are made? and then i try and sell them the book?

    thanks guys :-)
