What do you think about posting comments on Twitter good or bad to get free traffic?

I have been posting tweets on Twitter along with my link and I get little return.

I was wondering if more tweets will lead to more twitter traffic.

What do you think?

`Cheers~

I add based on keywords they mention in their tweets. I usually get pretty targeted traffic from twitter. Should definitely use it as another avenue to get traffic!

      1. Are your tweets adding value, or are they only promotional?

      2. Are they on a topic people might search for? If you tweet about making money online, you'll get more followers from searches than Chinchilla mud wrestling tweets will get you.

      3. Be patient. Getting a GOOD Twitter following doesn't happen overnight.

I'm not exactly a Twitter fan. Nor I think Twitter is a really fantastic great tool for traffic avalanche.

I use Twitter mostly as a subset of the main blog/site as a form of site announcements or quick rants.

Basically everyone in Twitter hope to accumulate their followers ... you follow me I follow you. At the end, is there any real followers interested in your site's contents/services/products?

Don't get me wrong. I do use Twitter. But as a secondary tool after my blog/site is all properly developed.

I agree, that's my basic view of Twitter, too. I also think it's a good idea to mix in some tweets with fun facts, quotes, or one liners, it helps keep it entertaining.

More tweets will increase traffic but that's just one way I get my traffic from twitter.
I use a software called tweetadder. This allows you to do a bunch of things. And anytime you have a new follower, tweettadder automatically sends an email to them with whatever you want it to say. That's when I take the time to thank them and then suggest my site.... Just a thought...

And now, let's have an insight into how does it actually work.

Twitter needs to be natural. Forget any software, been there, done that.

Large number of automatic followers has exactly the same response as 0 followers, i.e. those are either automatic bots or people who doesn't give a s**t about what you're tweeting.

A ratio which MIGHT have a chance of success is like 20-50 informational posts : 1 promotional, depends on your REAL crowd really.

The best way to use Twitter is to actually sit down in front of your computer and use it to talk to people.

Unpopular? Takes work? Sorry, that's it.

If you got your twitter followers from "follow me" websites, then these followers are useless and they probably will not pay attention to what you tweet about.

If however they were genuine followers, who came across your website and wanted to get updates of your website through your tweets, then you should have responsive followers that can get you more traffic to your website.

    Regards

Targeted followers are good for traffic and sales. I don't tweet
a lot. I will try this. I've tried to make my tweets count, 1 - 5
daily. I unfollow users who tweet every one to five minutes.
They fills my control panel with their tweets. I may miss an
    important one.

I can generate very good traffic from twitter, but mininal leads. I am fairly new at it, but it seems that so many people on twitter are promoting their own items that they don't seem to care too much about mine(or others). Any suggestions?

Use twitter to get leads. That is the best use of it. Put the link in your direct message about something free and you have made it. Twitter is best for generating leads. Then once you have enough leads, you can exchange or invite JV and earn handsome money.

You can definitely get good traffic out of twitter, but like everything else you have to do it right. You can't just go in and spam people. Especially since their are endless amounts of bots just posting spam and junk.

To get the most out of it, use it as it is meant to be used - as a social community. Find people who may benefit from what you have to offer and follow them, maybe DM them starting a conversation to get to know them. Also, offering something free is better than simply selling to them

Twitter is stuffed with spam. You would really need to have a nice targeted group of followers. It's just one of those things where its "Quality" over "Quantity". Hope that helped you out a bit, if you need more help, hit up my inbox!

One problem with twitter is, for example if your blog is about Money Making Online, then most of the followers you get will be people in the same interest. These people actually don't spend a lot time reading other peoples tweets but instead post a lot themselves. I have about 1.200 followers in the same interest, which is why I get about 600 new tweets an hour. Just a thought.
