How to recruit Affiliates?

We are a UK based Furniture Retailer and currently sell via our website, Amazon and Ebay.
On amazon our monthly turnover is around £7000 and on Ebay it varies between £5-6k.

However, we could do without the charges Amazon and Ebay charge us for each sale and to maintain the shops and would like to increase our site's sell.

You can surely guess from the turnover that we are selling in a niche with high demands. We achive this by making sure that our price is the lowest.
We have are now investing heavily on our E-commerce site and working on SEO and Link building etc.

I am looking for Affiliate type Internet Marketers who will bring in genuine customers and willing to pay generous commission.

Please can someone advise how I can recruit affiliates?

The best thing you can do is create a great product with a highly converting sales page. Test test test until that sales page converts like crazy. Then goooking through affiliates and offer huge bonuses to start. Go to internet marketing forums all over and search for affiliate and jb hangings. There are also programs like affiliate announce out there.

Please excuse my ignorace. What do you mean by Great product with highly converting Sales page?

We already have an e-commerce site full of products, that sell very well from our Amazon and Ebay shops.

Why don't you head over to Commission Junction or Share-A-Sale? You stand a good chance to get good affiliates there.

In addition, how about considering using a popular affilaite platform like IDevAffiliate and also use the word "affiliate" somewhere on your page? Many potential affilaites often search for thhe term "keyword affiliate" and they stand a good chance to land up on your page and sign up.

Also remember to give good affiliate commissions.

As a favor, would you want to drop me a PM giving me your site URL? I work on physical products as affiliate frequently enough, and want to understand whether your product line fits into something that I alreayd have on which I could plug in immediately without burning a single drop of oil... It stands a very high chance of not matching though.

You may want to start an individual aff program (people who get you sales get some reward)
Besides promoting site globally, submission to affiliate directories would also help.
You may also want to contact CPA Companies.
If your site aint on top in G, focus on proper keywords, possibly long tail ones.
And yes, 1 important thing, since its your main business, don't fall for $x for page 1 offers.
    Best Regards,
    -Shravan

P.S. - Just saw you aint able to pm, if you'd like to have some light on this, you may email me.

The site is on page one for one keyword and it's only been developed and installed couple of months ago, so SEO wise I believe were doing good, all the link building etc is also in place.

Can you send me a pm or your email address so that i can get in touch with you.

I will give the Affiliate db a try, post a topic there as well.

I have an existing affiliate program and also setup and install affiliate software

My advice to you would be to submit your affiliate program to 50-100 affiliate directories. Most are free some are premium

This is where affiliates look for new affiliate programs and would be a great investment in time as you will find a steady stream of new affiliates joining your program over the medium to long term

This may take a few days of time however you may find someone to do this for you cheaply. I'm sure you know what i mean.

I think your affiliate commissions will be much more than you now spend on eBay or Amazon.

But as long as you are still making money, why would you care? I don't think you should worry too much about these expenses, as long as the bottom line is decent, that is the number you should be concerned with.

I don't mind paying as long as the flow is steady and I am making money. Means we have total control of the whole process.

I don't think the commission will be higher though, trust me so far the payment I made to them has taken a good chunk of the profit.

    Hi Ayma,

Depending on your budget and experience, an affiliate manager might be a better way to go as they (for a fee) almost guarantee you see some results.

There are plenty of managers (I'd recommend Lakestar Media in Manchester) who will take care of not just getting you set up with the networks, but also creating banners, promotions etc and recruiting affiliates they know already have sites in your niche.

(We're UK based too, and I run an ecommerce site in the renewable energy niche selling heat pumps and solar heating cylinders. )

    Best of Luck

    J

Flipfilter: I am thinking of going to Affiliate window. Thanks for your advise though.

Nerrutis: I thought clickbank was for digital products only, but hey there is no harm in trying lol

I always do a search in google for my main keywords and write down the first 20 results plus contact informations. Then I'm going to contact each one of them. How much of them responds depends on your product, commission and CR.

With this method you can have affiliates instantly from the beginning and plus the increased popularity and grafity (on clickbank) your getting the attention of more affiliates. This method has worked fine for me.

    Ayma,

Are you signed up for an affiliate network as of yet? My business is over on Share a Sale and we have a number of affiliates which find us directly over there. You'll need to create an account, deposit some money, create some banners and text link ads etc. Well worth the time, if you ask me.

We also took the time to try and find the biggest affiliates in our niche (not really hard, you likely already know who they are from your own searches) and contacted them directly. My advice there, be willing to listen and respond to their needs. You'll be surprised at the type of results you see by taking a teamwork or collaborative approach, from what we've heard most business owners don't do this.

Best of luck, feel free to shoot me an email if you have further questions.

Thanks for that. Someone once told me "if you look after the people who work for you, they will look after you". And I have followed this approach since I started my business.

I can't PM, so if you drop me a pm and your email addy, would definitely get in touch.
