Help - Redirects Allowed in YouTube?

I just got my YouTube account terminated for violation of TOS. I had a redirect to my affiliate link in the description box. Could this be described as a "deceptive link" in violation of the TOS?

Are affiliate redirects allowed in YouTube's description?

Geoff - I do not know the answer to the question but good timing. I have just started using YouTube to build up a promotion of affiliate offers. The way I am using it is to find a product that is complementary to mine. Then I create a good quality video sharing a useful strategy + soft selling the recommended product. I embed the video on my own site, on a page that I create and control the links on. BUT I also use YouTube for hosting and I was putting a PHP redirect in the description field.

The link is certainly not deceptive, but who knows what Google thinks (remember Google owns YouTube).

Based on your warning here ... I've changed it. I'm now linking to my site without a redirect.

      Chris,

I may be overeacting! There must be millions of Youtube videos out there with bit.ly links, yet I haven't heard it has issues. I did have some flesh on my video, and I'm thinking that could have triggered the response, not the link.

No one has jumped on this thread to offer warnings etc, so I think we may be safe with aff links in the description box.

Anyway, I'm going to re-upload my video without the flesh, but with the affiliate redirect and see what happens. I'm going to an internet cafe to do it so I get an untraceable ISP. I can't afford to be banned by YouTube.

      Cheers,
      Geoff

I stopped video marketing because of that, my accounts and my videos kept getting deleted because they were violating the TOS.
