What anti-virus software do you use?

Personally I don't use any (I know, someday I'll pay for this maybe:-))) but a while ago I used this one Best Free Antivirus: ESET! Try free antivirus programs for 30 days. - this is nod32, by the way.

A friend of mine - and he's good at this stuff - recommended it to me.

This soft is not gonna slow down the resources etc, try it.

I'm a longtime nod32 user. It's what has worked best for me over the years. I've tried quite a few different anti virus vendors, but none have been as solid as nod 32.

Long time AVG free user here and always been happy with it.

Nod32 is one of the best IMO. If you go to their main website you can download the trial for free. If you don't want to pay for it you can go to nod321.com for free login and passwords. I would recommend just buying it because it's not too pricey. It's a great virus protector that uses very little resources. Good luck!

I use Norton but am considering swapping to AVG because I've heard it's as good and it's free.

Avast Professional Edition for years, I see no reason to change..

When you have a computer worth $1-2K or 3K... I am always amazed that people try to save on a $25-30-40 fee per year(!) to protect it.
I think Kasperky Anti-Virus is one of the best in the world:

McAfee on my desktop & Trend Micro PC-cillin on my laptop and I'm happy with both of them.

I've used Norton, McAfee, Avast, and AVG.

My personal experience is that AVG free is as good as the rest.

For what it's worth, I've been using it for over 2 years and am satisfied.

Kaspersky is the best according to my research and it does seem to find more viruses than other antivirus software that I've used previously

I used AVG for years and it worked well with xp, but it really didn't
get along with vista. It caused 2 serious problems that I wouldn't
have expected from an anti-virus. The first was an internet slow
down to almost nothing that had me baffled. The second was
difficulty logging into my host. I finally uninstalled it and got Avast,
also free and both problems were solved.

AVG seems to have gone downhill a bit lately. Harvey Segal
mentioned awhile ago that it was causing him to get duplicate
emails and uninstalling it solved that.

I use Avira Antivir.

I switched from Trendmicro (which became too slow) to ESET NOD32 antivirus and I'm happy with it.

Great all in one solution and it protects you from adware, spyware, viruses, worms, etc. Also has a built in firewall and cleans the registry, runs degrags, does automatic backups, even has an identity theft function which I don't really use.

It takes the Norton Internet Security to the next level.

Pretty much a security, virus & maintenance all in one powerhouse and it's always protected me.

I don't like having to have a virus software, a popup blocker, a spyware scanner, a seperate firewall, etc so 360 works great for me and allows me to forget about maintenance for the most part.

It also covers 3 computers which is just right for my house so the per computer costs is very low and you get all the cool features.

Definitely two thumbs up.

Also, on AVG...

An update for the AVG virus scanner released a month or so ago contained an incorrect virus signature, which led it to think user32.dll contained the Trojan Horses PSW.Banker4.APSA or Generic9TBN. AVG then recommended deleting this file; this causes the affected systems to either stop booting or go into a continuous reboot cycle. So far, the problem only appears to affect Windows XP, but there is no guarantee that other versions of Windows don't have the same issue.

I read several reports that people had to reinstall windows because of this, yikes!

Use Avast! with no problems.

Umm, I use Macs so I don't run any AV software ;-) Actually, that's not entirely true... when I'm running Windoze XP on my Mac in Parallels I use AVG - it's awesome. Tried a few others on "real" pc's and found they went far to slow when the AV s/w was loaded.
