Is Blogger's Domain for 10 bucks a year a good deal?

Hi Warriors,

I am new to blogging and am looking into internet marketing as well. Recently I've received a numbers of feedback from the warriors that I should get a proper domain for the blog. Is the Blogger's Domain service a good deal? Any advise?

Or is/are there other recommendation?

Cheers!

Buy your own domain name from any good registrar and connect in with your Blogger blog. Don't get it from Google. Might be difficult to manage later.

I agree, this sounds like the same situation when I took yahoo up on their domain deal. A total pain and couldn't get out of it to save my life.

Try godaddy, their domains are very cheap and you can forward it easily to your blog

Forwarding is not the right option here. You need to link your domain to your Blogger blog.

In general, it is a goo idea to get you domain name from one place, like Godaddy or NameCheap and your hosting from another. Some hosting services make you buy a domain name from them in order to use their hosting. And others let you get your domain name somewhere else and use it with their hosting to set up your account.

Godaddy seems to have issues often with hosting, in part, I guess because their control panel to work with your domain is a bit differetn than Cpanel. I don't know that, for sure, I don't host with Godaddy, but I have heard that atound a more than once.

But you will usually make out better in the long run if you keep the parts of your business with separate providers.

Namecheap has great prices and low cost on privacy, with free privacy for the first year. I found them less expensive than other places for both purchases and renewals. You can usually find a discount code online also.

+1. Blogger uses godaddy for their custom domains (at least they used to), and IMO godaddy is nowhere near the quality service that namecheap is. Plus, the execs at namecheap don't go around shooting elephants.
