Make Money Using CraigsList - How are you profitable warriors monetizng CL...(Whitehat tips only)

You have heard that there is tons of money to be made using craigslist...

While that may be true - but there are lot of hucksters trying to peddle their profit getting tips which are blackhat or greyhat at best.

I am not judging them....but I wanted to invite profitable warriors to post some of the ways that they are using craigslist to make $$$...

If you have a product recommendation, that would be welcome too... just put in a plug for your own product here....

If you own a product.... send me a PM and I will look into it and will post a honest review of it here for the benefits of others like me.

Thx

BTW: How many (different) ads can you post safely on CL without getting in trouble with CL?

Are you allowed to post 10 ads per day per account on CL or is the number lower than that?

Pretty much every CPA network / advertiser in existence HATES Craiglist traffic because it's such poor quality.... however, I'm sure there are definitely some unique other ways you could monetize.

The leads are only low quality if they are fraud or scam leads - misleading people into things.

As for 10 posts\day on one account.... "LOL"

Hi there! I've been lurking for a bit, but this is my first time posting here at the Warriorforum.

Personally I am having success using CL & Kijiji (which is more popular in my local area). Yes the quality of traffic is low so it does become a numbers game.

I'm in the real estate field and every single client is profitable so it is well worth my effort to filter 100 CL names down to 1 paying client. Assuming that you don't apply a lot of time to each CL.

I have found that I am having just as much success from CL posting 1-2 ads per day as I had posting 10 ad. I think people looking at CL quickly learn to spot repeat ads and skip over them. Only having a few ads up makes your ads more unique and people are more inclined to follow the link.

I have friends who are investors who have successfully used CL to fill their vacancies...very successfully.
So I know it works like charm in some categories...
I also had a ton of good leads when I had posted ads on CL to sell my cars...
huge traffic source... I used to get emails for days after the car was sold....
Good quality leads...for selling cars..NO DOUBT.

I agree that the quality of leads generated for CPA offers are of inferior quality. But I have local business who are using it ethically and more importantly profitably.

There are a million ways to make money with Cl with out being deceitful or tricking people. And just because most CPA companies don't accept their traffic doesn't mean there isn't 1 million companies or affiliate programs that could care less where the traffic comes from. With over 400 cities and every category under the sun, CL gets around 65 million unique users per month. Over 1 billion page views. If you can't find out ways to make money (legitimately) with those kind of numbers than you shouldn't be in business at all.

The fact is CL is literally one of the cheapest and best targeted traffic methods you will find online. Nothing even comes close as far as CPC when compared to almost every other advertising medium with the exception of organic traffic, and as we all know this can take months if not years to achieve in high volume. CL traffic can be instant.

Now this being said it is not an easy game any longer. You can't just buy a piece of software and throw some ads up. CL has done a very good job at getting rid of the low level spammers (this is good by the way because it gets rid of a lot of the idiots that where making it harder for you in the first place) . The average marketer gave up long ago. Most marketers like the path of least resistance.

So basically only a hand full of guys who really know what they are doing, market on CL anymore. This being said if you can figure it out, there is loads of money to be made. And trust me when I say loads.

This is encouraging!! I get a lot of traffic from CL and it's been a much more pleasant site with a lot of the spammers gone. I have 20 ads running on CL right now. I watch my stats to see what city I'm getting the most traffic from so I know what product line is the most popular.

I just love CL! I never got anywhere with my stuff on eBay, etsy or Bonanza but I am getting traffic from CL. At least people are looking! And hopefully with the new videos on my site, I may make more sales now too.

Just like with any advertising, remember the Rule of Six:
"It takes at least six times before a consumer associates your name with your product or service. This means you need to buy at least half a dozen ads before you see results. If you're going to sink that much money into an ad campaign, obviously you want it to work."

With CL, you can put up six ads and keep them running for six weeks, months, YEARS, and it won't cost you anything but your time to write some variations of those ads, then relist them as they expire. Whether it works or not depends on where you list your ads - both category and city. But it least it's cheap advertising!

Well, I don't know about "loads" of money in my market but it's really all about "branding." The more places people see my website listed with my logo and my name, the more traffic I'll get and the more sales. I'm just waiting for that "snowball" and CL is simply another marketing tool that no one should ignore.

Interesting. Being geographically focused myself, I have always viewed CL division into city area as a benefit. I have never before considered how it would hinder trying to promote something that is of a smaller dollar value.

I have some luck in CL . I have posted up to 5 times a day but have two different IP's one at work one at home. I never sign into my account anymore. There is a way around it. However all posts in the forms I posted in expired in 45 days. Not sure how any can last years. There are spammers out there that will look to get your e-mail. There are people on CL that will flag posts if they view you as competition

I have been hit up by spammers too...
I guess the good comes with the bad... Its the cost of doing business...
Can't separate one with the other...Two sides of the same coin... you can't get one without the other.

I think CL should come up with some better process of flagging...Its JUST NOT RIGHT to let your competition knock off your ad off of CL.

Come'on CL you are smarter than that. Well, Aren't u?

True, you don't have to have an account to post on CL. I just find it's easier for my type of work to keep my account active. I even went through the phone verification code so I could post more often and keep track of my ads to repost as soon as one expires.

No, none of the ads last years unless you do set up an account and just keep reposting them month after month, which is what I do to keep my ads out there.

I used to get hit with spammers IMMEDIATELY after I put up a post but I noticed with this last round, I didn't get one, so I guess CL has done a good bit to crack down on them.

And I've had a few of my posts flagged and removed soon after they were posted. So I simply reposted them. It can be a hassle but depending on your product, if you make sales, it's worth the added effort.

I actually created a pdf for some of my friends on how I have started to make money on CL personals. I make about 3 posts on Thursdays & about 3 on Fridays. They get flagged and removed, but I still made just under $200 last month for not doing much work.

Depending on your services, whether you contact them from their post or vice versa, it's still an awesome site that offers users the potential to make some pretty good money.

What I found out with my transcription services is that a lot of times people who need something done don't always look in the Services Offered section. If they're busy, they don't have time, so they simply post a job or gig and wait for people to contact them. I landed a lot of one-time typing gigs by contacting people who posted a need.

Scott.. good idea.. how was the quality of the traffic when you sent the traffic directly to the offer? I have felt the quality of traffic in some section of CL is of very poor quality.

In 2009 I ran CL ads in 6 cities a day for a *very* niche product (not adult). I made 108k that year, all from CL. I'm about to start marketing there again for a new niche I'm interested in and I expect it to do well.

All the greyhat/blkht tactics don't mean squat on CL. You'll make very little having someone post ads for you. And if you're not highly specialized, and if you can't write excellent CL angled copy, you'll fail at it.

CL is an odd bird these days for marketing, but if you're careful and know the tricks, you can bring in a good sum. But avoid blkht marketing, you'll just look like a fool.

A properly crafted "Home based Business" Opportunity ad on CL can easily be created, and added to each city across the country IF it is created in such a way that the headline and first few paragraphs are not exactly the same. Home Based Business is usually a category within each city, and of course you can post to general categories or targeted business type categories as you see fit. The trick is, that CL is created to foster local traffic, so you may need multiple accounts, etc. A good spreadsheet or database program would probably be helpful.

Be prepared to be flagged, even if you stick within the guidelines because CL is repleat with self-righteous liberal, capitalist-hating types that have nothing better to do than go around flagging anything that smacks of "Making Money".

    YMMV.

One tip that you should consider when posting on CL is to look at other ads that are posted in the section you want to post. Look to see what they are using in those ads that makes them "stick". Are they using links? Are they using "reply to email"? Maybe they are using a phone number where they have set up a voice mail to give people more detailed information.

CL seems to always change up there "filters". Looking at ads that have successfully posted can give you an idea of what is working.

    Whitehat tips only
In that case, don't use craigs list for your dirty marketing

    Go read the CR TOS.

You have heard that there is tons of money to be made using craigslist
I see, hear and read a lot of crap, doesn't mean it's all true. If it's coming from another marketer trying to sell me something, I'm less inclined to believe it
