LizaMoon SQL Injection Attack: 694,000 URLs and Counting ...

Not sure if you saw this, but there's been a recent upswing in the number of websites being compromised by an SQL injection attack called 'LizaMoon' that attempts to infect your DB and get you to download a bogus AV pack.

I explain how the injector works on my blog but if you prefer you can simply Google "LizaMoon" or "SQL Injection Attack" for more details on Google or Bing (I suggest checking the NEWS sections for current info.)

Bottom line, while the impact is still being measured, it seems some sites which are powered by MySQL may be at risk. Yes ... Wordpress is powered by MySQL and therefore a target for this malware.

Typically the solution is to ensure you have a strong password, that your S/W versions are up to date and DO NO ACCEPT weird offers to install things you do not know or trust.

Pause before you press that enter key ...

As they say 'this too shall pass...'
