Is There Still a Demand to Own a Niche Article Directory?

Hi warriors,

I am wondering if there is still a desire for internet marketers who want to own a niche article directory.

I have recently created a few on the recession theme, and had one up for sale at sitepoint. It didn't sell.

I know I am not the world's greatest copywriter, and this was my first auction there, so I don't have feedback yet.

I was considering running a service type wso to create these new model, which is a cross between a regular directory and the implementing it on a wordpress platform.

I am wondering and would really appreciate some comments on this.

I have ordered a few specific plugins that will aid the ones I already have which make this new model very easy to control, modify and even promote.

You can see my examples in my sig, but my question still remains, is there a demand for a service to create these for other internet marketers?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Laurie

Well, the site has no rank, little traffic, the sales page says the content is not unique, and the domain name is long and not memorable.

The site was just established, so you will get very little interest.

Content sites will sell, but it's just not as easy as it's sold to be.

Try adding some unique content and do some link building to gain value.

    Thanks Eric,

Thank you for those great tips for increasing the value of the one I ran for auction.

Do you think, if I were to offer a service of setting up these to others who say had their own content to put in them, and a specific domain in mind, that this service would be of value?

Yes, but you have to consider the time put in compared to the returns at auction.

With RSS you could have about a thousand or so articles added as content, but it's unique content that will add value quickly.

Otherwise you will have to wait a bit and build BL's to establish some value for auction.

Building blogs will probably bring you more business, along with other WP customizations and services.

      Good luck!

    Thanks Eric,

Yes, I don't believe filling them with rss content is a good plan.

I was considering, offering a limited number in a WSO, and adding unique content and say some specific topic rss feeds, (that would be a feature only the owners of the directory would be able to do).

Giving each customer a 30 day, submission service, of putting one of their chosen articles and/or the rss feed, to slowly build up the site.

This would be on top of the digging and customizing it all with all the necessary and available plugins.

I am thinking, offering this in a series of batches, say of maybe 10-15, than taking a waiting list on any that are interested once those are done.
