    Hi Mary

I'm in the process of moving a few of my bigger video-based sites over to Amazon S3, so far so good.

I made a post in the War Room about how to use S3 to secure private content that you might find interesting.

    Cheers

As above, S3 is dirt cheap.

I've got about 4 gigs in there and it's costing me a few cents each month.

Can you do all your hosting that way, or just the vids?

It wasn't designed to be used as a typical web host.

Although there are workarounds such as iframing a single page on your regular host and pulling the actual page from S3.

But it's really more for storage.

I don't think you can host a site, but it can be used for all forms of data storage and retrieval. So if you want to centralize where all your products are stored and downloaded from it may provide an ideal solution. The advantage being you're not using your websites resources to serve files.

You can use Amazon's EC2 service to run a full blown webserver.

Of course, you have to know what you're doing. Running your own show means no webserver customer support.
