How do you guys feel about using Ezine Articles as part of your autoresponders series?

Up until now I've been either writing my own content or using plrs for my autoresponder emails.

I will usually append the emails with a "PS" that contains my affiliate link.

I'd like to start using articles I find on article directories (Ezine Articles, Articlesbase, etc...) as part of my publication. Here's what I'm concerned about; do the links in their resource box get in the way of your readers clicking your your own links?

What are your thoughts?

That's exactly the intent for article directories. It is standard practice for ezine publishers and marketers to send out these articles to their subscribers. You are required per TOS to keep all links and resource boxes intact.

I found that nothing is better than using your own stuff (or a PLR rewritten as you mentioned.)

You will lose clicks to the resource box. Just no way around it. However...

If you are either a) not able to keep up with content or b) going for the "I am just passing on cool information" angle - I think you will be fine in the long run.

I wouldn't make anymore than 25% of your stuff off ezine though. You still need to be the front man.

No way I would put another author's link in my email. Write your own stuff or get some good plr. The whole point of having a list is to try to sell something. Why would you want them visiting someone else's links that you have no control over?

I have tried using ezine articles in my autoresponder, however believe the best auto-responses are written buy you, short and concise. A lot of the GOOD articles on EZA are too long for my taste in auto responders, and alot of the shorter articles don't possess the quality that I want to send to any of my lists, I prefer to write, or outsource (to someone that understand me, and the culture of my lists) my auto responder sequences.

Do you ever read entire 700word articles someone emails you? I know I sure don't.

I am willing to do today what other's aren't, so I can live tomorrow, how other's can't.

    Are you?

That is what they're there for.

The only "hard information" I have about this (and it's from former clients, not from my own testing) is that it varies greatly - but I don't know according to which factors. I suspect the strength of the relationship you have your list must be one of them, though.

I think the only way you're going to know is a split-test (and even that's not going to be completely reliable - nor will it necessarily be easy).

I admit I wouldn't instinctively want to do this, myself, with any of my lists. But people certainly do.

I do. But it doesn't matter what I do. It matters what the people on my lists do, and that depends on what's attracted people on to my lists in the first place.

Many on my lists would consider that pretty short: they're people who enjoy longer articles than that. That's what attracted them and is what they want and expect, and is (they say) sometimes why I'm the affiliate through whom they buy products they haven't bought through other people whose lists they've been on in the past.

I agree with you Mike. Why would I have someone else's links in my messages? There is a time and a place to express your appreciation for someone ones writing skills but not at the risk of giving them my leads!

I would never give someone else a chance to make sales off my list UNLESS I am affiliated with that person.

I was afraid of that answer... :p

Anyway, thanks Alexa. I'm always grateful whenever the "Big Guns" like you, Bill, or Steven take the time to answer questions in such great detail.

Here's to more testing and tweaking, hooray!

Good advice. I was thinking about sticking to the 80/20 rule on this one anyway.
