Default How much competition is too much in terms of number of articles submitted?

Hi,

How many articles that match your exact keyword phrase count are too many? How many does it take to over saturate that niche?

1) I know it also depends on how good my articles are, but seeing how I've only written about 5, I'm still new. I'm looking for a number that will allow me to either write a niche and stay in that KW niche, or choose a different ke niche to submit articles.

2) I also read here and there about "duplicate material" is it oaky, or not okay to submit the same article to other sizes? And if you use article submitting software, is that killing your backlinks and PR?

Thanks!

Dennis

Duplicate content is fine - just not on the same site. Having said that I have seen tests done where say 200 articles that were identical were submitted to different sites and only about 15 of them counted RE: backlinks, but that's only backlinks.

Regarding your first question, it's not quantity, it's quality. There can be 1000 articles, but if they're all crap and none of the marketers bother actually promoting them (ie. building backlinks, etc) then you should be able to get to the top of the pile pretty easily.

In my experience, the level of competition you can win over depends on if you build links to the article or not. I've also found that landing a first page slot has more to do with how optimized the current top ten are, as opposed to how many total pages of competition there are. The competition number, for me, is just a way to get a rough estimate of how serious the competition is - not the final say.

Interesting posts,

Daniel, I don't think i'm following you right. So in the test, out of articles submitted do various sites, they only counted 15 of them? So you only got 15 backlinks?

thought if you submitted 200 articles, with your link in the resource box, you will get 200 back links.

Dennis,

My understanding is that Google only counts x amount of the same article for backlinking purposes... Although, this is not a test I conducted myself (although it did appear to be a thorough, scientific test).

However 200 different articles would certainly get you 200 backlinks.

Having said that some people question the validity of having 200 backlinks from teh same domain - apparently once you have one the rest don't make much difference.

This is just what I've been told by people more knowledgable than I in the subject - I haven't tested it myself.

Hi Daniel,
Okay, I see what you're saying now. So it would be beneficial to spread those 200 articles across a wide spectrum, verses submitting them all to the same place.

Dennis,

Submitting 200 articles at the same place is fine if they're different articles.

SUBMITTING THE SAME ARTICLE TO 200 PLACES WILL NOT GET YOU 200 BACKLINKS.

That's the point I'm trying to get across.

Again, this is just what people more knowledgable than me have said. I can't really give any indication one way or another, personally.
