This Is Why You Shouldn't Give Up

Hey Guy's, I haven't made any new post recently so I Just wanted to take a time out and hopefully drop a little motivation on someone that might need it.

Those of you that know me know that I'm not the biggest fan of SEO. Now just because my primary marketing strategy doesn't involve SEO doesn't mean I don't dip and dab every now and then.

So, about three months ago I was sitting here board out of my mind, so I decided to start a small seo project in the weight loss industry. I did a little (well actually a lot) keyword research but couldn't find an available exact match domain so I just added an the word "new" to the front. The keyword research actually didnt go as good as it normally would have due to a particular tool in my arsenal not being updated any longer but I managed without it.

Once I registered my new domain I used a regular old free wordpress theme that I randomly picked. After setting up the blog with the usually plugins such as, seo pack and google xml sitemaps. I had the sitemap submitted to the top search engines and that was it for preparation. Now that the blog was ready for content I out sourced 60 articles, 2 per day for 30 days. After the third day I had the rss url submitted to as may rss directories as possible and from that point I continued to post 2 articles per day until the 60 articles ordered were depleted.

I had a few social profiles created at places that allow links to my blog on my profile page and that also allow the profile pages to be viewed by the public, EXAMPLE: Twitter, Identi.ca, Linkedin, Myspace and there's tons of others. At this point I went over to fiverr and hired a few of those guys to do so mass backlinking to the profile pages every week or so.

I started this blog 3 months ago and it has now been #1 for it's targeted keyword for over a month now for a highly searched keyword, I'm getting over 800 visits per day. I'm monetizing with pay per call so the conversions are pretty good too.

If anybody understands how hard it is to work your fingers to the bone without based on the advice of people that you don't even know, it's me. The first and second blog I ever created flopped but seeing those blogs flop showed me exactly what I was doing wrong.

My first blog made it to the top for the targeted keyword after over a month of hard work but it didn't have as much traffic as I believed due to bad research. My second blog I simple gave up on because the competition was too heavy, again a result of bad research.

Most of the methods and advice being shared here by fellow warriors do work but if the keyword that your targeting has any value, 9 times out of ten it's going to take your dedication and drive to reach your goal. It's possible, just continue to push. It's not going to happen over night.

Would you care to share who you used to outsource at fiverr. I have tried several different people and not found a great provider yet.

You can PM if you would prefer.

          Thanks

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with fiverr but I'd rather not provide my source at this time for multiple reasons. I hope that there's no hard feelings.

          Yes you have, thank you

One question though, how do you create your articles? I know you said you outsourced it, but do you provides your writter(s) with keyword, topics etc? Or do you just make sure that the article quality is good and related?

A decent article cost as much as a decent writer is willing to charge for it. In most cases a cheap article will be crap but there are decent writers for hire at low cost. I've seen articles being sold for hundreds of dollars. The people that buy these multi hundred dollar articles probably consider the decent $10 article you speak of as crap and they may be right on one level or another but the question is, does the article bring and convert traffic?

Deciding if you should provide keywords or topics to your writer can be figured out with proper research. It can depend on many factors, such as your Industry or niche and what you goal results are.

Thats the thing, I see a lot of advice being given saying not to enter into weight loss, stop smoking, make money niche and so on but thats where the money is. Yes it could be hard but there are so many phrases out there, many of them are already being targeted by others but many of them are also not being targeted correctly.

Congratulations on hitting #1 in Google with your latest site AND also monetizing it pretty well! SEO can be a long, tedious and laborious process that tends to discourage many, but the rewards can be great at the end of the day if you do the proper niche/keyword and monetization research beforehand.

It's definitely good that you take your time with the research, because this will ultimately keep you from wasting your time on projects with little to no potential. If you repeat this process with your future sites, this should ensure a very high success rate for everything you work on!

Your right Paul, it's hard for many new comers to consistently work on a project for months with nothing more than the words of others telling them that what their doing will work.

It boils down to taking the leap of faith and testing things out for yourself.

I could have easily done the work that was outsourced myself but there's no need for me to do so.

I simply outlined a very easy way for anyone to turn a new blog into a success, if you can't out source you simply do the work yourself. Anyone that want's success can see the simplicity in this simple method, it's all about daily action.

People like to make things more complicated than they really are for some reason, just get it done using the resources that you currently have.

I can totally relate with being discouraged, the key is understanding that you can never succeed by giving up. Just be aware that there is nothing wrong with taking short cuts but taking the wrong shortcuts can cost you your success. For example:

A gentleman recently asked me to review his website to determine why he was working so hard to move his site up the serp's but getting nowhere. I quickly noticed that he was using spun plr as his main content, it was a terrible read. My point is, if your going to take shortcuts make sure it's something beneficial instead of hurtful.

I know to some this may seem obvious but you'd be surprised.
