5 years and only $60/month...Help

I have been running my website at backcountrysecrets.com for about 5 years now. Each year my traffic has slowly grown to where I am getting 200-300 visitors per day. I have tried several different adsense placements, I've done affiliate banner links, I've tried an amazon store, but no matter what I try, nothing seems to get me much higher than this $60. Is there anything I can do, or did I just pick the wrong niche?

The site is really cluttered and squeezed together, it feels tight and sort of crowded. With that much going on the odds of getting someone to click on your ads/affiliate links amongst the DOZENS of other places they COULD click--well, you're not going to make a ton of cash that way.

Also the focus of your site is probably going to encourage more browsing from people interested in information--not necessarily buying a digital product or clicking ads. Consider those things maybe when evaluating your site/redesigning.

If I were you I'd have (above the fold) an email opt-in form for a newsletter so you can build a list. I'd also try to clean up the main landing page and optimize the design so there's less clutter and more focus on the things that could make you money. Also, once you've got a list you can utilize the list to send more traffic and essentially "recycle" the traffic--sending it affiliate offers, CPA offers, whatever. Good luck!

Sorry to say , but if that is all you have made in 5 years you should have already moved on! Try another niche or something all together different in IM!!! Don't wait 5 years to figure out it is not that profitable. Try different things until something sticks.

      Dude,

      Your website looks great.

      But...

I ran "back country secrets" thru Google Adwords Discover tool and there are zero searches for that keyword.

SEO basics say you domain name should be a keyword, but a keyword that gets some searches. You are never going to get much traffic with your current domain name.

Make 10 sites like that and you'll have 600$ per month. Seriously. Scale it up.

I agree with the other posters. You have worked on the site for 5 years and if you can't get it to work by now you've probably maxed it out.

Time to move on to another project and apply your learnings to it.

You will need to change your thinking and niche, you will need to discover a new marketing strategies that works for you!, don't bother your time in waiting the results to come without doing any work,

Your Main Page, it has to be professional and attracting, you have to put an intersting things on your website to keep the visitors longer and longer, you will have to convert your visitors into leads,

You really have to start over, try to establish relations with other Gurus etc... this will help you, and see the market, what is working ? what is not ?

    Thanks

There are a few layout/design suggestions I could give that might help you to squeeze a few more bucks out of your site with your existing traffic levels; but honestly, to significantly increase your income, you're probably going to have to increase your traffic.

Does most of your traffic come from search-engines? If so, you need more keyword-optimised content and to engage in some off-site SEO (backlinking) to increase your rankings and thus your traffic.

There is a limit to what you can do just by shuffling things around and swapping out and replacing monetisation options. Eventually, as I say, you just need to look at increasing your traffic.
