Free vanity phone number from Google Voice.

This is pretty cool. I just set it up as a tweet for tomorrow about this to my followers, but thought I'd share it here as well. You may have heard about Google Voice and how you can set up one phone number to ring all your phones until it finds you. It also transcribes your voice messages and lets you send them to Email along with lots of other cool features.

However, what I just found out, which is totally awesome is that you can set up a free vanity phone number. You just punch in a word and it automatically tries to find a phone number which matches the word for you. So for example, for my personal finance blog, I've now got (XXX) 45 MONEY. (If you want to see the area code, you'll have to wait until I update the blog with the phone number or check my Twitter feed, thepfhc tomorrow).

Considering it's a free service, I thought it was really cool to have. It makes your small business look bigger than it really is. Plus, you can just forward the number to a Skype In number (that's what I did) so that it will go to voice mail automatically when you don't want to be disturbed.

Note that it doesn't work everywhere (I'm currently overseas and had to use my US VPN to access it and forward to my American Skype In number) so you may not be able to use it if you're not in the US (I'm not sure which countries it currently supports).
