A blog is a website. Think of it in the same way you would any other site on the internet. Find things to refer people to and blog about it, offer a service etc.

    Create good quality content.
    Work on SEO.
    Build a quality list.
    Promote products you believe in.
    Profit.

If your blog already gets a lot of traffic then you have a head start. However, you don't want to bloat your blog with a ton of affiliate links and promotions. Build a relationship with your visitors, provide USEFUL information they can apply to their lives. Ask yourself what problem your visitors need to solve and promote products that will solve those problems. I strongly believe if you promote products you believe in, and come across as sincere, you will be more successful. Just my .02.

    What is your blog about?

The main incomesource would surly be advertising. Amazon affilate products works great too for various niches like tech, coocking, books and etc.. Lets say you have an coocking blog then you could write one or two blog posts about how to make smoothies and say that you used "this" smoothie and it was the best smoothie machine you have used - then you could easly take an smoothie machine from Amazon and leave a link in your blog and earn some money of every who buys that machine.

Selling banner space and text link ads is one of the best ways to monetize the blog. And if the blog isn't high traffic then go for adsense.

CPM and CPA is also one other ways to monetize your blog. There are a lot of ways through which you can do this.

Write an honest review detailing the pro's and con's of a particular product or service. Find a product or service that you are interested in that offers free trial and use it.(must also offer an affiliate program)

Take notes and then write the review placing 2 -3 affiliate links to the products sales page.

What your review is doing is pre selling the reader which creates the highest conversion rates because they ready to buy when they hit the product sales page

Make sure the review is your own personal, authentic experience using the product/service

Readers will see right through if its sales copy or copied content and your trust will be gone

Find more products related to your niche interests and do the same

Build your own review site and add them to your site

Squidoo, hubpages and the rest are all landing pages which sell the story and pre sell the reader so they are more inclined to buy rather than just browse when they follow your affiliate links

I highly recommend you check out John Chow's blog as well (I Make Money Online By Telling People How I Make Money Online – John Chow dot Com). He has some phenomenal ideas for monetizing a blog. You should also sign up for his mailing list.

His emails are some of the very few I consistently open because he generally provides very useful advice. Even his sales pitches come with helpful information instead of just pure sales pitches.

He also hosts webinars periodically which are wonderful for learning more about monetizing a blog (they're free too). His last one was excellent, with some truly amazing ideas and not a single blessed bit of upsale. The next one, which I just got an e-mail about today is supposed to be about making money on Flippa.

And no, I'm not making a penny promoting him. I'm just a huge fan. Of all the gurus out there, I find him to be by far the most genuine and he also works specifically in the world of blogs, which is helpful for those of us who run blogs.

    Hope that helps.

Traffic is the key. Once you have traffic you can build your list and you can recommend products via email or via your blog. Recommend products you have used yourself.

    Alternatively... CPA.

If you're a content writer (or have access to one ) then you can make a good content site...

    And then initiate content locking

You have to be on a network that allows for incentivized traffic... but Blam Ads and Leadbolt are two that are exclusively incentivized. Not too tough to apply to either.

It would help if you had a good site already, but not vital. I would suggest it though for that added peace of mind.

I can go into more detail if you (or anyone else) would like

I have 3 ways on my blog to join my list

at the end of the post, on teh side of the static page and a banner up the top.

I also earn form adsense on the side and top of my blog. I try to put adsense the first place a reader looks .

I get over 5k uniques to my blog a day so doing this helps.

But i can tell you it was alot of hard work to get the traffic up there...and i post 2-3 times a day.

Does having the adsense being the first thing your reader sees increase your "bounce rate"? I've read that many times when a user stumbles across a site that has a bunch of ads in their face they don't stay long. Just curious.

If you are celebrity then people will be interested in your lifestyle stuff.

If you are not, think of how you could be one online.

Build a brand first and subscribers.

Then you can ads space to anyone if you want to

I have not earned money from a blog. However, I have earned money from putting affiliate links on a blog where people click thru and I have earned money from people who have found a list sign up form on a blog and put in their information and from there I sold them something.

But the blog has not personally paid me. I wish they did because I have a lot of them and just setting up blogs would be a whole lot easier than setting up these campaigns.

You make money with HubPages, Squidoo, other content sites and your own personal blogs in tons of different ways. You can use programs like Google Adsense to earn money each time someone clicks on an ad from one of your pages. You can also include affiliate links to Amazon, Clickbank (and tons more) products which will earn you a commission when someone makes a purchase from your site.

If you've got content on HubPages and Squidoo already, I highly suggest you integrate your AdSense information (you can create an Adsense account through HubPages if you don't already have one) so you can start earning on the content you've already got. You may have already missed out on a few dollars, so get to it! :O

Keep in mind that on third party sites like HubPages, you only earn a percentage of what you would earn if a user clicked an ad on your own personal website, as HubPages (of course and understandably) takes their cut. It's a 60-you, 40-hubpages split, if I'm not mistaken. The trade-off is the traffic that comes from being on a content site with traction in Google and existing membership.

Going forward, build your own blog, use sites like HubPages and Squidoo to send traffic to YOUR site, then sell your own products, promote affiliate products, or use AdSense there. Options are pretty limitless. Good luck.

First of all your blog has to have a professional template, and you have to post original and useful articles daily.

In order to make money with a blog you need a LOT of traffic. Most bloggers make money by selling various products through their blog. It’s very hard to make money with ads if you don’t have enough traffic.

Everything depends also on your niche.

Keep writing Hubs and creating Squidoo lenses. Don’t build your own blog before learning very well how the internet works. Getting traffic online is very hard because there is a fierce competition in all fields.

You can make money with a blog, but this is something that takes Time. A blog is not a way to make fast money online.

  • i used to do this long ago.

all you need to do now is to pick a site like keywordeye.co.uk to research keywords, or use google adwords keyword tool. pick the right keywords for you and generate content with those keywords, add tags and post them on a blogger or wordpress blog.

bookmark each and every post on digg, reddit, del.icio.us etc, you will get traffic and you will get indexed on search engines fast. bingo, traffic.

use adsense to monetize the traffic.

If you create a static blog (blog with one post that is yours), you can promote your own or an affiliate product. In this case I would concentrate on just building backlinks by submitting artices, creating lenses on squidoo, forum posting etc.
If you create a dynamic blog (many posts, fresh content), you can promote many products. I would also also create backlinks but your new posts will also help you gain exposure in the search engines as well.
    hope that helps

Networks of blogs appear to be springing up all over the 'Net, some of which are looking for people to write blogs and are willing to pay for it. Payment models vary but a fixed monthly payment in exchange for a specified number of blog posts seems to be most common.

You CAN make money in many different ways, but interestingly, the big name bloggers who have been bringing in dough using advertising and affiliate marketing are almost without exception now earning more from their own products than any other single income source.

Also, if you read any of these leading bloggers they often mention that they waited too long in focusing on list-building - yes they have a loyal readership, but they also want to have a list of top prospects for monetization.

      So, that means...

      1. Make sure you focus on a market and niche where there is urgency, frustration and demand for information....this sets you up nicely for producing your own infoproducts in the near future

      2. Answer a compelling question or offer a tip each day, organized around some keywords that your research shows are used by your target audience

      3. Have a compelling offer (freebie) that you can offer your readers for taking the next step and signing up to your list...you can easily build 1000's of subscribers in a few weeks this way

      4. From your posts, look closely at those questions and comments causing the most views and comments -- these will give you a clue to what it is people reading your blog are most interested in

      5. Put a mini-infoproduct together focusing on the leading posts - 20-page report, 40-page ebook is often good to get started and offer it for an intro price to your subscribers

      6. From there - you can put together advanced courses, consulting or coaching programs, private membership sites or create another couple of targeted ebooks where you can eventually bundle them, upsell and cross-sell to really bring in the bacon.

This system works - we've done it in 4 different niches now...nearly without fail since you are taking your cue directly from your market instead of "guessing" what it is they want.

Those aren't "your sites", though, GemFranco.

Those are sites that belong to (and are controlled by) Squidoo and HubPages, whose terms of service can suddenly be changed - as so many Warriors have found out to their cost in the past.

All the helpful comments above, in this thread, about "your blog", don't actually apply to Squidoo and HubPages ... because those aren't your blog.

If you want to be able to own and control your own blogs, and not be dependent on deriving income from sites that other companies own and control, there are many ways you can do that even without spending any money at all: you can use self-hosted Wordpress blogs, for example - using a free domain-name from .co.cc and free hosting at byethost.com, or you can use a free host with a built-in site-builder such as weebly.com, or blinkweb.com, or yola.com ... and that way you're in control, instead.

Posting to blog = takes months to see results

    Why?

Because you need to gain readership (loyal subscribers) first. It takes time for them to love you too. That's what a blog is all about, being personal.

Writing review articles and posting to certain article directories and then backlinking them = autopilot income cash with daily sales

    Simple.
