[Daily Journal] - Going Full Time IM
Hello Warriors,
I have finally taken the plunge. Quit my full time professional job last Thursday, and finally following my dream of building my own marketing empire. I already have the tools and knowledge, and now I have the time. I started a similar discussion on another forum, and am getting some good feedback there.
I figured that I would start the same conversation here to share with you my daily experiences, but also get your opinions since you are a different crowd. I started April 1, 2011. I have no PPC campaigns, I own a couple domains that generate no income (for the past 4 months approximately $3 in adsense), so I am literally starting form nothing.
The Plan
I will be offering services (SEO services, mostly link building) at first to generate some short term revenues to pay my cost. With excess revenues I will be developing my own sites, ranking them and monetizing them with a mix of adsense and affiliate offers. Long term, once I have a stable income, will be stepping it up in the PPC game.
I am starting this journal here with a couple days already done (I left my job March 31, and started "full-time" April 1), but the idea is that I will post what I am doing each day and how much revenues I bring in.
Would love to hear your input and advice as I go along.
Day 1-4 (April 1-4)
Not a lot of actual work done, but for disclosure and to try and make this as complete of a journal as possible
- Setup a blog to chronical my journey (sort of like this, but will also become industry news related blog, and I find forums promote much more interactive discussions than blog)
- Updated all of my SEO softwares
- Spent a day at my old job (transitioning my old clients to the new teams)
- Spent time formalizing my business plan
Income
I know I started off by saying I am starting with nothing. Very weird thing happened over my first 4 days of going full-time "IM". One my old hobby sites (which gets maybe an adsense click per month) has generated clicks (pennies) every day. Good omen I guess! Hopefully it keeps up (and grows!)
April 1 - $0.54 (adsense)
April 2 - $0.46 (adsense)
April 3 - $0.06 (adsense)
April 4 - $0.03 (adsense)
