Lensmasters Looking for Ratings

Hi Warriors!

I want to issue a word of caution for you if you're posting your link here asking for five star ratings, etc. Squidoo staff is really looking out for this right now - especially on marketing forums. They could view a few of the recent threads and sweep through and lock all of those lenses on a dime.

They're trying to crack down on fake boosting and I know of some who have come to me wondering why their lenses got locked (turns out they were all over the place asking for ratings and guestbook comments).

You can do what you want of course, but I want to caution you that it's something they want shut down because it's becoming prevalent and if you put a lot of hard work into your lens, it would suck to all of a sudden have it locked down from you because you wanted a quickie 5 star rating

A better way to get it:

Write a great article on EZA or your blog, etc. Get traffic going and IN your lens - several places if you like, ask the visitor to rate your lens at the top if they liked what you had to share.

They'll do it - it's just that often, they don't even know it's there unless you point it out to them.

Tiff

      Thanks for the heads up.

Just wondering if it makes a difference if the lens is set to charity.

I see a lot of people on forums that ask others to do this. Thanks for passing on this information. I was just thinking should I start, now I will pass on it and take your advice and write a great article in stead and ask the visitor would they rate my site. Make much more since any way.

    Thanks

Which I highly doubt. Unless they were doing something a little more nefarious and choose not to admit.

      Whoa! You work for Squidoo?

You're allowing people to pay you to rate their lens five stars (false ratings) and GUARANTEEING them that it won't get locked just because you haven't yet been caught and had yours locked?

Just out of curiosity, how can you GUARANTEE this? You do realize some people might pay the $0.20 to have you rate their lens and wind up locked - losing all of their hard work, don't you?

Seth and other Squidstaff are well aware of the Warrior Forum and they do know what's going on re: lens rankings.

And like I said I can guarantee that no one will get their lenses locked. If you want to scare people I understand. I agree Publicly asking for someone to rate your squid is against TOS.

But however I believe you know best because of your post count. So if you would like me to remove my offer (Under the pretense) I have been convicted without evidence of false ratings( I will do so).
A false rating is when you pay someone or ask someone to give you a five star rating not based on the fact that it was good content or they enjoyed it - but because they forked over money for it, for example. I assume the people paying you aren't going to see a 1,2,3, or 4 star but only 5s right? That's a false star rating in my opinion. Of course, some of the lenses WILL have deserved 5 stars, but you're a service, so you're not checking for quality first I believe, correct?

Illegal? No one said illegal. Squidoo doesn't like it and they're watching for it. They say, "In the past we've seen a lot of otherwise good lensmasters chasing after fool's gold, trying to promote their lenses via massive rating swaps or paid traffic exchanges. Squidoo does not endorse or recommend this kind of activity, and could even lock your lenses because of it."

          See that last part?

The issue I had with you is that you said you GUARANTEE they will not have their lens locked. That's not true and you shouldn't be telling Warriors that - I'm watching their back. Again, you claim you CAN guarantee it. I'd love to know how. Seth? Is that you? Meagan? Gil?

Other squid staffer? I'm assuming you're not on the payroll....

There is a new forum that I joined through a WSO that is set up by some very well known warriors, and their forum is specifically for this sort of thing. To boost each others lenses, give each other diggs and stumbles etc. Helping each other to boost their lenses, blogs, websites.

So forums like this are a bad idea do you think?

I think it's good to encourage people to visit your lenses - people you know, fellow Warriors, etc. Squidoo encourages you to spread the word about your lenses. Again, what I had a problem with is his/her guaranteeing their lens won't be locked.

I don't know what WSO you're talking about or the Warriors behind it so I can't comment on that.
